As you may already know this game takes place 100 years before the events of the original Castlevania and that this is the last game made for the NES system, with this info out of the way we can continue the review at hand. Yes, this is another superb game for the castlevania series, Konami successfully made its way back to the roots of the series but in the process it managed to introducenew aspecgts to what it had already learned from the previus entries. Quite frankly Castelvania 3 is more of the rightfull sequel to the original Castlevania since Simon's Quest gameplay was a little different, none the less it is a spectacular game on its own.

What's new and different this time around is that the game allows you to choose different paths on your way to Dracula, this instantly adds to Castlevania's highly replay able game play. Another of the two major changes is the introduction of three other playable characters which you encounter as you make your way to Dracula, Grant de nasty, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard are the playable characters, each of which plays differently. Grant has the ability to walk up and down walls and ceilings, Sypha is a powerful sorceress and Alucard can transform into a bat and fly around obstacles. Each character changes the way you play the game and you can bring only one character along, so if you are travelling with Grant and meet Alucard, you will have to make a decision between the two. Also, for a character to join you, you will have to defeat it.

The music is very good and varied, so much so that it really helps you get the feel of the environment. Also the graphics are a small step forward from Castlevania 2, but I can't say there is a big difference.

At the end of the day after you have swung your whip for the last time Castlevania III is a great sequel to the Castlevania games and helps move the series forward, a definite must play for any Castlevania fan.
