A lazy Reboot back to World War II

User Rating: 1 | Call of Duty: WWII PC

Campaign - I have no idea how people can say the campaign is any good. It is literally nothing but WW2 cliche's. You have the hardass sergeant, the dude with the new York accent who is also Jewish, the guy with glasses and so on. The dialogue also sounds like it was all ripped from a John Wayne war movie, super cheesy and cliche.

Regarding historical accuracy, Sledgehammer must have been on bath salts when they were doing research on the second world war. They pretty much removed all the swastikas and forced women into the game. I can't help but feel the social justice warrior agenda being crammed down my throat. Sledgehammer made absolutely no effort to include historical accuracy, but a huge effort to include "diversity".

My biggest complaint is that there is absolutely zero depth to the campaign, it's nothing but a check the box of all the famous battles. I felt more depth and connection to my robot sidekick in Infinite Warfare than any other character in this game. In my opinion, The campaign is the worst part of the game. This games campaign is only slightly better than Ghosts.

Zombies - The zombie mode was very underwhelming. The trailer looked good but sledgehammer failed to deliver. There is nothing scary about this zombie mode, they all sound like the Tasmanian devil off of Looney Tunes. They also nerfed the damage zombies do to you which makes it way too easy, I got to wave 20 and quit because I was bored. They hyped up the zombies and failed to deliver.

Multiplayer - Multiplayer is the only reason to buy this game, but that doesn't mean I think you should buy it. It's nice to use WW2 weapons again and I'm glad they introduced HQ into this game. But even with the weapons it hardly feels like a WW2 setting. You can't tell the Germans from the Americans, all the players are just a mesh of green and brown. The only reason I know that someone isn't on my team is because they are shooting at me or I see a name tag over their head. The maps are super bland, there is nothing interesting or unique about them that emulates the second world war.

The multiplayer maps are ultimately the reason why I uninstalled this game. These maps are by far the worst multiplayer maps I have ever played, they are all the same three lane layout. They are also the same size which makes them feel even more similar, especially when there is only like six or seven of them. Minimal effort was put into Map design.

Verdict - This is a lazy excuse for an WW2 FPS. As a veteran It also really pisses me off when Sledgehammer says the game is about honoring WW2 veterans, when it's nothing more than money grab. Anyone with common sense would know that going back to WW2 would be a sales monster. I wish I didn't buy this game, don't let the "Call of Duty is going back to WW2!" saying bamboozle you. It's a classic skin over a garbage game.
