Cabela and Activision nailed it for this title!

User Rating: 8 | Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2004 Season PC
I usually hate Cabela's games, but the 2004 iteration of Big Game Hunter is by far the best Cabela's game ever released.

Even the manual boast about this fact. The manual reads.

"Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2004 Season is a very realistic hunting simulation, created with respect for real life hunting regulations and whose large selection of weapons, accurately depicted equipment, game animals and hunting locations concur to a gameplay that mimics the true hunting experience."

But is the game a realistic hunting simulation? By all means it is...

The visuals of this annihilate 99 percent of hunting titles out there. The sound is superb and night/day transitions are flawless. Realism is always present you must survive not just run around the map; you get fatigued and need to replenish your energy. Animal AI is top notch, you will have a hard time killing an animal, but when you do then it is rewarding. There are over 20 game animals! There are different seasons for each region. Regions are huge and detailed, just how they should be. This game can be had dirt cheap at amazon.com, if you find it grab it!
Game features:

- Advanced animal behavior - game design and animal movement based on actual DNR research, including sight, speed, daily routines and feeding patterns;
- 8 huge North American locations, each having 4 different hunting areas, depicted in 4 different seasons and featuring realistic terrain, based on a powerful LOD algorithm, incredibly detailed vegetation and swaying trees and 3D grass;
- Astonishing time-of-day modeling, accounting for breath-taking sunrises and unforgetable sunsets;
- Over 24 game animals, reflecting a variety of age, gender and size;
- Physically simulated bullet impact on animals; shot animals tumble down steep slopes using state-of-the-art rag-doll physics;
- Authentic weapons and gear - a wide selection of today's best-selling firearms, bows, scents, clothes, stands and blinds;
- 4 different vehicles to drive from, powered by realistic physics;
- Internet / LAN multiplayer, so you can test your hunting lore against other opponents in three different gameplay modes.
- Record clips of your most spectacular shots and share them with your friends;
- Post your animal scores on Cabela's webpage, strive for your place among the best.
- Special in-game features include Bullet-Cam, X-Ray scopes, custom Log Cabin and advanced scoring system.

Nothing more to be said, this is a hunting simulation, it is not perfect, but it is outstanding nevertheless!
