I bought this game strictly out of curiosity.I have recently become very entertained by these hunting sims lately.After trying out demos of TROPHY HUNTER 2003 & DEER HUNTER 2004,I've become attached to the genre. This game is good but it's no masterpiece! First off,the compass is ridicules.You can't navigate using that thing.It is best to just use the GPS. Second, all the animals of a particular species look the same.I mean,in DH2004 & TH2003,you get a variety of doe and stags.And they are running all over the place.If an animal is too small,you can bypass that one and look for bigger game.In Cabela's 2004 edition, I dont see that at all.You can't bypass the animal because they all look the same.Third,the tracking camera gets a little goofy sometimes and the tracks don't really tell you anything accept the animal was there. As far as sound goes,DH2004 blows this game away.Cabela's 2004 just doesn't sound like a hunting sim is supposed too.It should be a little more natural and the animals should make sounds randomly.Not just when you spook them.Driving the vehicles are a little awkard too.It feels like off-road championship in stead of a nice little ride in the park.You shouldn't have to race from point to point on the map.MY GOD.........SLOW THESE RTV'S & TRUCKS DOWN!!!I cant tell you how many times I've crashed and burned on these things. But after all my minor complaints,this is a good game.The hunt is fun.Very fun! You're not going to walk all over this game.You will be put to the test of patience just like a real hunt.And when you find that prey and bag it,you will feel so rewarded.THAT'S THE OBJECT OF ANY GOOD HUNT.The only problem I have is,when you kill your prey,a window pops open on your screen giving you points details and animal stats.The next thing you know ,your prey disappears.HEY,HOLD ON GUYS! I LIKE TO LOOK AT MY KILL FOR A WHILE.I WANT TO SEE WHERE I GOT HIM.I WANT TO WALK UP ON IT AND BAG IT MYSELF! I guess they figure "Whats the point when they all look the same anyway?" I love the log cabin in carreer mode though.Decking out your crib with the trophies you've earned is so sweet!But its even better in this game because you get to pick out your own cabin,cool!! If you like to hunt on the PC,you should buy this game.I have a feeling that a patch to fix these minor but buggy problems will be coming out soon enough.But if you only buy 1 hunting sim this year,wait for DH2004!!
