BUZZ!: Quiz TV review by Simon a.k.a. [TheDevilDweller]

*****Introduction*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Good:
Fun with friends and family - Feels like your in a real game show

-------------------------------------------------------

The Bad:
Playing alone is not fun - MyBUZZ quizzes are limited to only 8 questions a quiz

-------------------------------------------------------

BUZZ!: Quiz TV is a great Trivial question game that is great at parties and playing with a group of friends and or with family, which limits it down at a game you might not play very often.

*****The Graphics*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall Design:

The graphics are pretty decent. Nothing compared to most game out there today (or from yesterday), but it is visually appealing nonetheless. Cartoony looking characters and animation that is amusing and somewhat funny… in a good way.
The overall special effects and backgrounds are pretty standard, but it does give great guilty of a game show.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****The Game-Play*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Game-Play:

The game-play is simple, fun, and easy enough to pick up and play, even for people who have never played a computer game before (perhaps your mum or dad :P).
A series of questions will come up on screen and you must press the right coloured buttons (1 of 4) that you think is the right answer, depending on what game type your playing, pretty much like the previous BUZZ games. Sounds pretty simple and easy yeah?

Every game mode and type is hosted by, BUZZ, a funny looking host with a weird face, a flashy suit and perhaps an annoying voice.

BUZZ consists of several rounds with over 5000 questions spread out over several channels, which you can choose any single channel you wish to be quizzed on i.e. Music, Movies, TV, Knowledge, Spots, Lifestyle, as well as other channels you can download at the PSN store.
Playing a local multiplayer game up to 4 players consists of seven rounds.
Point Builder, a round that consists of 6 questions where each player is awarded 250 points for every right answer.
Pass the Bomb of Short Fuse, consists of a bomb being giving to a player as random, where the player must answer a question right in order to pass the bomb to the next player, thus saving there points. The player left with the bomb loses 300 points.
Fastest Finger, the player that answers the question fastest, gains the most point.
Pie Fight, consists of players fighting over a series of questions in order to throw a pie at another player. The first person to answer a question correctly, gains control of a cream pie where they must press their buzzer at the desired time as a target passes over all the players. Each player is granted with 2 hits (or lives), after which will be knocked out from the round. The round end with the last player left, thus granting them a considerable amount of points.
Point Stealer, consists of player fighting over there points. The first player to answer a question right, is able to select any other player and steal 300 point from them, and add it to there own.
High Stakes, consists of player gambling 50, 100, 250 or 500 point from there own, over a series of questions. Getting a question right will grant them whatever points they gambled, as well as lose.
The Final Countdown, the last round where each player is on a raised podium. The podium is raised depending on how much points you have gained during the previous rounds. The higher your points, the higher and more chance you have in winning the game. As the round begins, once the question has be asked, every players podium with slowly move toward the ground until each player selects an answer or runs out of time. The first player to answer the question correctly will gain there podium a boost. Slower answered correctly players will remain where there are, and player that have answered the question incorrectly, will cause there podium to drop. Once the podium reaches the ground, that player is eliminated from the round. The last player standing on there podium, wins.
Playing on your own consists solely of three rounds of Stop the Clock, where the faster the player answers a question, the more point the player will gain.
Playing online multiplayer, with 4 friends or more, or against a family or a group of friend in Sofa vs. Sofa, consists of the same round as of local multiplayer except the Pie Fight and Pass the Bomb rounds.

Player can also make up there own Quizzes at MyBUZZ,com, which you, your friend, and other players round the world can play, and rate your quizzes, but your limited to 8 questions a quiz.

*****The Sound*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sound Design:

The sound design is pretty decent but it does a great job with the overall atmosphere of a game show. Music you would expect in a game show, as well as sound effects and voice hosts.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****Life Value*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lifespan / Replay Value:

BUZZ is not a game you'll probably play for hours and hours or even days, but for what it is (a party game), it does have a decent value to it. BUZZ is great at parties, with a group of friends, and for a good laugh. Playing it on your own, have no value.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****Editor's Final Thought*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As said, BUZZ is a great party game, but not so great playing on your own. Imagine playing a board game like Monopoly, or Dungeons and Dragons alone (two games that are not similar to BUZZ I know), it's no fun and people may even call it quite sad.
If you're the type of person that likes having game night every now and again, hosts parties, likes playing games with a large group of people or friends, or have a big family… BUZZ is a game I would highly recommended. If you're a loner, and only into single player games, BUZZ will be a bad choice for you.
