This (and the sequel) is perhaps the best sword-slinging action game around. An older game with severely outdated graphics, this game manages to keep what makes it so awesome: it's simple, but innovative combat system. Each of the PS action buttons does something, but button mashing won't win you matches. In fact, this game is about one-hit kills, using techniqes and strategies to slay your opponent as fast as possible. As such, matches tend to be quick, brutal affairs, with both opponents hopefully keeping up with one an other. There are some other attacks tho'. First off, each character has his own fighting style, with several stances to choose from. Also, most characters have a secondary throwing attack, from shuriken for distance kills, to a quick sand-in-the-eyes bit to temporarily disable opponenets. Of course, thrown weapons can be easilly blocked, so most kills are from solid sword strokes. The only character who doesn't apply to these rules is a gun-slinger cowboy type guy, who can be unlocked in the game. He's cheap, but entertaining to watch, and a good challenge for experienced players.
