Brink is a good game, but it suffers many shortcomings that prevent the game from being an instant classic.

First thing's first. Let's start with the positive aspects. Graphics are pretty good, nothing too graphically impressive but it fits. However there are some visual delays which take a couple seconds for the visuals to be shown in full like command posts. Gameplay is pretty nice, yeah it's your average FPS game but it does have a good balance between fantasy and realism in the weapons and it plays well with good frame rate. Controls are in the right place, they're decent and enough for me to get easily used to. There are some good class selections to choose from like Operative, Medic, Soldier and Engineer. There's a decent variety of guns in the game but most look a little too similar to one another, which could be a little weird at first but you get used to it after a while. Character creation is ok but a little too limited. Now for the negative aspects. The AI sucks. They take too long to do their jobs. For example: Medics. They take too long to come to your position to throw you a syringe so you can revive yourself and it gets very annoying real quickly. The engineers and operatives are always getting themselves killed and hardly do their jobs, and when they do them, it's either usually too late or they're too freaking slow. Another problem is the occasional glitching. Call me crazy but I've never played the online on it so I can't really say for sure if it's even worse for the glitches on there. There's not really that much glitching in the single player mode but when it does happen, it sucks. Last problem is that the game is insanely frustrating and it's hard to actually complete your missions, None of it is my fault, it's really the AI's fault and every time I do the operative job, I'm always getting shot and interrupted and the enemies always ruin the objective which ticks me off because that only makes the mission more frustrating and possibly unable to be completed within a matter of minutes. Not only that, the enemies take too many hits to be killed. Maybe it's just the guns I use, but I'm pretty sure that the Machine guns and Shotguns were meant to kill people with 1-3 hits but instead, they take about 5 or more hits to kill. Bottom line, Brink is not a bad game by any means, it's decent, but it's got some problems that prevent it from being one of the best PS3 games out there.
