Must-have PS4 game + suggestions

User Rating: 8 | Battlefield 4 PS4

First of all, I love FPS, and for better and worse I love BF4. It has glitches, it still crashes more than most games, and it doesn't take full advantage of common advances in the genre, but when it works (90% of the time), it is insanely fun and it makes me glad to own a next gen console.

I won't discuss my experiences with glitches or crashes, all of the ones I have experienced have been discussed ad nauseum, but I will say that every FPS I have played has had glitches, frame rate issues, etc. This game does so much well, and is so ambitious that I believe these issues can be overlooked and I hope they are remedied one day.

What does bother me is the lack of common advances to the genre not present in the game. This is most apparent in multiplayer playlists. Other FPS games have either weekly/quarterly new playlists, community/custom playlists. I love the original maps, but I want to be able to create and find sections of the map, and play modes created by the community. Maybe custom or community playlists seem less appropriate for the BF4 feel since their aren't really map editor or custom playlist tools to begin with, however if BF4 added one more mode, I think it needs Land Superiority playlists similar to Air Superiority. Land Superiority would allow players another avenue to explore the depth of land vehicles available in BF4 and add additional variety.

Aside from playlists, another area of improvement that is common to other FPS games is being able to change loadouts from the end of game screen. I realize the BF4 app allows for a second screen and on-the-fly/remote loadout however there is still an excruciatingly long wait between matches that is filled with end of game reports, but not loadout change options, it's just plain needed.

I enjoy the frenetic pace, the scope of loadouts, the ambitious action sequences that I cannot find anywhere but BF4. I will play this game for years to come, and I appreciate the work put into it, I thank DICE and EA for all they are doing right to make a product that reaches so high, and I hope to say in 6-months time that it does so while improving and adapting to player feedback.
