One of the best in the series....

User Rating: 9.5 | Battlefield 2142 PC

First off, alot of peope who play BF2 will tell you that this games is horrible.
I'm glad i didnt listen to them, because to be quite honest, it's a fair bit better than BF2. It is also the most addictive game in the franchise.

Graphics: This game looks good for its time, though the graphics are largely unchanged from BF2, its still playable while maintaining good frame rates on a decent PC. The wepons and vehicles look exellent, and beleivable. However the game STILL doesnt support wide screen, which is a pain.

Gameplay: This is where this game really shines, although it hasnt good the best single player, the multi-palyer is where its at. Even though this game ahs been out for a while now, it still has a large community of dedicated players.
It isnt hard to find a server with a good latency, and plenty of players, which is always good of course. The maps are more infantry focused this time, which allows more intense battles on ground. DICE has gotten rid of planes, which is good for most people because that means yoiu do not have to worry about being pwnd by jets. There are still helicopter type things aswell, but they are no as powerfull as the were in BF2.

Teamwork in BF2142 is better than any other game in the series. If you work in a squad, the computer will literally chuck points at you, for killing somone in the order radius, you get an extra point, for dropping people off in a transport, you get extra points. The list goes on. You use these points to advance through the ranks, with every rank comes an unlock. When you receive a Unlock you can choose new equipment and weapons from the unlock tree. Each class has its own set of unlocks. You can expect to see alot more unlocks this time around, about 5 times more than Battlefield 2.

This does come with a downside though, when you first start the game, you get barely any equipment, which gives people on a higher rank a great advantage over you. However when you start out, its not hard to gain a new rank, the first rank you obtain only requires 40 points.

Battlefield 2142 comes with a new game mode called Titan. The objective of Titan mode is too destroy the enemy titan, a titan is essentailly a fancy looking flying base. Too destroy the enemy titan, players much retarget the silo's sitting around the map, its like capuring a base in conquest mode, exept instead of neutralizing and capturing, you de-activate and retarget the missile. Once the Silo has been caputred, it fire's at the enemy titan at regular intivals until the enemy sheild is down. This is where the fun begins,
Players now have to board the enemy titan, via drop pods. once on the titan players must fight there way to the consoles, and destroy them. You can expect very intense close quarters combat while in the titan. Once the Titan's consoles are desroyed, players now have access to the core, players much destory this to destroy the titan.

Sound: The Sound in this game are good, machine guns still sound like machine guns, and snipers still sound like snipers, but the more "futuristic" things in this game, like EMP's sound beleivable. The Sound really creates a great atmosphere.

Mod support: Battlefield 2142 has nowhere near as many mods as BF2, which saddens me, but there is still a few really good mods such as the star wars mod called "First Strike".

Overall: Battlefield 2142 is a great addition to the series, and well worth the money
