One of most played online FPSs from WWII and the "Nam" has some score to settle in the 21st century...
Finally, I have obtained the BF2: Complete Collection and I am shocked and appalled... Of how good the game actually is... Of course the game has some minor flaws and setbacks, but hey.. It's all part of the process, right?
The game itself, has reality, sound, game play, graphics and many other perks that basically sucks you inside the game itself, making you not wanna stop playing until you got that final bastard with the M24 sniper rifler that's been killing you from the start... With a little effort you can learn a bullets velocity of any rifle and it's time of hitting the target, cause it has real weapons, real damage, real everything, at most. It's at best the real battlefield "training" you are going to attend to in a few years :P
The game is "useless" if not playing online, it gives you a good start though, cause the game starts living when you use it's full potential, teamwork, medics, support, M203 grenades on real people, voicecomm to achieve points, kills, flags and many more... You gonna be playing the game for like 1h, but it's been actually 4h of playing :D
Graphics is quite good for an online game, a good online game with some possibilities in real life such as stamina, jumps, abilities with weapons, etc...
Some minor details, that actually matter are really good, such as bouncing grenades on a utility belt, or magazines from support, secondaries and other stuff... But it won't matter because you won't be looking and judging "that" for the "game of the year" :P
It still requires quite some machinery too run the game smooth and if you have a kickass sound card, even better because if you play the sounds on high with a "normal" sound card the sound is really crappy and the game is unplayable...
It would maybe look even more better if it had some blood, for example, you hit a target it bleeds and as he/she runs away you follow the blood trails and bleeding in general... It would look great when you hit a target in the chest or the head and blood is spilled all over :P
I won't go too much into detail, just some remarks about the gameplay itself... You can say the gameplay is actually real, which is, again, really appreciated with shooting games, because you can't run a 200m sprint with an M60 as you can with an G36 and the accuracy with weapons, then moving while shooting, changing from primary to secondary, reloading, taking damage and so on and so on....
Now some minor flaws... As a sniper you can "hide" yourself in the bushes but it's not that... Sometimes you are easily spotted and they should've put in some urban ghillie suits for urban maps, leaning across corners is necessary(actually I forgot if it has one :/ )and more vegetation for better stealth actions...
To complete the review... I would recommend the game to any player out there that wants some real shooting action and playing online with friends, people over the net and to experience teamwork which is essential for victory...
To top it all of, you have booster packs, expansions such as Special Forces, Armored Fury and Euro Forces which gives you additional maps, gadgets, weapons and stuff which is great...
