One of the best RPGs of this generation, on any console.

User Rating: 9.1 | Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean GC
This is one of the best RPGs on any console, which is definitely saying something for the RPG-starved Gamecube. We'll just go down the line:

Story: The plotline in Baten Kaitos is one of the better plots I've seen in an RPG in a long time. Very well-developed, a great cast of characters, extremely long and a fantastic floating world in which it all takes place. Not to mention, one of the biggest and riskiest plot twists in the history of RPGs occurs about halfway through this game.

Gameplay: I was taken aback when I first heard that the battle system would be card based, but it actually turned out extremely well. I was one of the biggest doubters of this concept, but this really isn't a typical card-based game. All of your commands are stored in cards called magnus, and when a random battle occurs you are dealt a random hand out of the deck of cards that you have built. It is highly customizeable while avoiding becoming so complicated that it makes it tedious. Really fun.

Graphics: The graphics are absolutely gorgeous. Each of the floating islands has it's own flavor, and the game excels both technically and artistically. Sound: The music isn't anything special, but it works really well here. The battle music is nice and never really gets old, and the great visual designs of the game's locations are paired with fitting music.
