The great background design and fitting music save this game from grace.
hand-drawn background - living paintings, coupled with amazing musical scores make for quite an experience.
It's flaws are painfully obvious in comparisson, though - which include bad 3D graphics (characters, for instance), a straight-forward story, unoriginal character design, a luck-based fighting system and terrible voice acting.
The voice acting is probably the worst I have ever heard, the voices are annoying & the quality of this audio is very bad. It is worse than english dubs of mangas in the mid '70s.
The fighting system, though luck based, is nice to experiment with. Some of the backstories are kind of interesting, even though the main story is not. There are a few characters weird enough to be memorable and there are more than enough side-quests to nicely pad out the main experience.
The game is not easy to recommend, but if you are an RPG fan, it is worth a try.
