Great old school game, with the begining of a new school feel.

I remember my first time playing it. This kid up the road from me whom I hated owned it. I only hung out with him cause his family had money and he'd have all the cool stuff. It was actually his older brothers' game, who was an even bigger a-hole. Any way, upon first glance, it drew my right in because of its graphics(lol), and at the time amazing complexity. My previous experiences with NES baseball games never really impressed me much, but would keep me entertained. Baseball Stars, on the other hand was addicting, and I needed to get my own copy. Hanging out with these idiots isn't worth it, but there was some bad news about this game. It was riddled with bugs. By the time I was able to get to Toys "R" Us, go to the "wall of video game cards", find the right one, and bring the appropriate slip to the register, to then go wait at the "pick up area" for it to come down that conveyor belt, and finally to your hands. Either way, Nintendo recalled all copies, and SNK stopped producing it. Damn them. Alas, though, I got connects. My parents' friend actually worked in the "toy biz", and was able to get me a copy. It was my Easter present, which was probably the best Easter present ever. It was my main baseball game for a few years, until I got Bases Loaded 3 for Christmas. It was an easy game to manipulate, but that is what I did with games back then. I fought The Great Tiger in Mike Tyson's Punchout for a few weeks until I beat him in the first round. Why? I don't know. Baseball Stars had some issues with computer AI, but this was the beginning of sports games having a more complex, authentic feel to them, to almost upgrade them to a baseball sim. As long as I got to first, I would be able to time rundowns to me eventually getting a home run. Most of the time they would throw it away. The teams were creative, the music was awesome. Some of my favorite game tunes are in Baseball Stars. I have yet to play the sequel, but I sense myself checking eBay now to see if there are any available.
