Barbarian does has it's good moments, and is probably worth renting.

User Rating: 6.5 | Warrior Blade: Rastan vs. Barbarian PS2
The Good: Good Moments, Good Graphics, Good Sound.

The Bad: Disappointing Character Design, REALLY REPETITIVE Gameplay,
Kind of a clone of Capcoms Powerstone.

I have alot of hate for Titus Interactive, i mean, what have Titus putted out, RoboCop, Superman 64, Carmaggedon 64, what else? When i found this game in BlockBuster, I rented it right away, and tell you the truth, Barbarian is nothing but a bland beat-em-up.

The Character design is disappointing, you just get these stero-typical barbaric-warriors to magical-wizards, and heh, what a coinsidence, because these characters, the barbarians look like Conan, and the barbarian from Diablo II, the wizards looks like Merlin, to necromancer looking people. The Gameplay is also really disappointing, though well-done, it's just something out of a Capcom fighting game, only in 3-d, much like Powerstone, only much more worst, it gets repetitive, really repetitive, REALLY REPETITIVE!!!!!

The graphics in Barbarian are actually quite good. Though the character designs are just disappointing, bland, and just the typical assortment of barbarians and wizards--all the characters look detailed and programmed decently during a fight. Most of the environments in the game are also really appealing.

While the basic sound effects in Barbarian are well done every other aspect of the sound is incredibly subdued. You'll hear grunts from the fighters, as well as the clashing of weapons, but that's about it.

So In Conclusion, Barbarian is not really special, or new, The Gameplay is just something out of an arcade beat-em-up, with disppointing character designs, repetitive gameplay, and kind of a Powerstone clone, but to be fair, Barbarian does has it's good moments, and is probably worth renting
