This could have been the best of Assassin's Creed...COULD HAVE BEEN

First and foremost, the best thing about the game is the open world. They did an amazing job designing 18th-century Paris with all the iconic buildings and historical locations. The city is so lively thanks to the crowd system tech they’ve used to create large populations. I spent much of my time simply exploring and enjoying the sights.

But other than that…everything else is just dull. The story is mediocre and Arno Dorian is one of the least interesting AC protagonists I’ve seen. The side characters and the villains are just as bland. The mission design is so boring and lacklustre, I had to practically drag myself through the game to finish it.

The new parkour system was extremely frustrating and sometimes not even responsive. Maybe there’s a learning curve to it, but I sure didn’t find it myself. The improved combat system is pretty decent and added some good difficulty to the gameplay.

The new customization options are great as well. We get to change each clothing piece individually to create a unique look for Arno. There’re unlockable upgrades and skills as well. Some of them are pretty useful and fun like the ability to disguise. Then there are redundant ones like environmental blending; why does Arno need to UNLOCK the ability to SIT on a bench?

There are some interesting side missions such as Paris stories and murder mysteries. The Co-Op missions were fun; there’s still a decent player base so it wasn’t difficult to find people to play with.

While writing this I still couldn’t decide whether I would recommend this or not. So I’ll just say buy it when it’s dirt cheap on sale. If you’re going through the series for the overarching storyline, this is easily skippable, as nothing significant happens in this game.
