@whoozwah Actually it's due to the creator being Japanese and that whole "westernizing" thing they brought up.

Anybody else getting sick of all this "we have to appeal to Western markets" crap? Yea, we do live hundreds of thousands of miles away, but these repeated comments that make us seem like were extremely different is beginning to verge on insulting.

Corny, and the robots look like the robots from the movie I Robot. I think the appeal of japanese games to westerners it that they are japanese, and not an attempt to "appeal to westerners"

trailer is nothing flashy, but i hope the gameplay is solid

looks like another standard cover and shoot game only instead of fighting soldiers or aliens you are fighting robots this time woooooooo how original.

@whoozwah: You mean like how everyone is so hyped up about Dark Knight Rises even without any footage or teaser trailer for that? Trailers are supposed to generate interest and hype about something. As others pointed out, this so far has done nothing in that respect. The trailer doesn't even play up the points mentioned in article. The trailer oozes cold clinical environment, not what dev wanted it to be.

@Flame_Blade. Everything made in Japan is meant to appeal to the Western market. Notice a mostly homogeneous country has almost all characters in games and anime as Caucasians?

Yet another game set to embarrass the Japanese gaming industry in trying to appeal to the Western market.

I hated the voice acting and wasn't that impressed with the trailer.

The only thing that bothers me about the trailer is the way all of the robots and stuff looked, they looked like stock mechs from other games.

Looks interesting. I might try it out. Hope it has co-op.

there's an absolutely incredible amount of ignorance and hate in these comments about a game that has no available GAMEPLAY to watch. I'd be willing to put money on there being more than a few negative comments in here totally based on the fact that they saw the word SEGA in the article.

Well the only thing that appeals both to Western and Japanese markets is BADASS!!!

fails in the first rule of science fiction/fantasy. suspension of disbelief. while it clearly has some human interests in it.. it lacks semblance of truth or common sense.

Huh... Well, can't say it looks as interesting as SEGA's other shooter recently released. But I guess Vanquish was made by Platinum Games and not the guys behind Yakuza. Yakuza has a great story and decent action where Bayonetta had a decent story and AWESOME action! Those silly Japanese thinking people want to have emotional drama and tear jerking story in a shooter. LoL COD proves that to be false.

This game looks a bit dull, but I will give Nagoshi the benefit of the doubt and wait until its released before I pass judgement. With that said I wish the Japanese developers would stop trying to copy the western devs. I know they want to have success in this market, but I think they are better off just being themselves and making the games they want to. I do like western games like Halo or GTA, but I also like jrpg's and other Japanese developed games so hopefully they will stick to what they know or other wise we will have nothing left but muscled up shooters.

This doesn't look too good. The robots look horrible, and by judging from almost all Japanese games the AI will be horrible. The graphics (so far) are waaaaaaay sub par. The gameplay will most likely be mediocore. This is all just a guess, but its not looking good so far. And the flying machines that were holding the robots was beyond goofy, I mean I almost burst out laughing when I saw the robots flying around.

i will likw the story and feel of it thats for sure... but they look like they are trying too hard to make the charecters look soldier cool.... and games are like relationships when you try so hard you f@#% it up. its better to just let it flow good concept but they better find a better way to convey it.

A lot of this is what I wanted from Terminator Salvation.

I personally believe it looks horrible. Japanese developers should stop trying to make generic "American" games. They should instead concentrate on doing what they are good at.

I liked the trailer, the speeches and the characters...remembering that is not yet ready... I hope something good with this game until its release!

@MERGATROYDER: Definite potential. This guy's got a good resume. I'd really like to see Yakuza Kenzan! hit US shores, though... I know I'm beating a dead horse there, but come on! And I'd really like to see Super Monkey Ball make an appearance on PS3.

If it's as good as Bayonetta and Vanquish I'll get it, But judging from the trailer they still need to put a lot of work into the game to make the main characters more appealing... and to make the robots less clumsy. I'm interested, hope they polish it enough to make a great game.

I'm curious if this game will be like the Yakuza titles and take upwards of a year or more to be released outside Japan.
