World of Warcraft Legion Expansion Release Date Announced

I'll wait till it comes out on the private servers. I haven't paid for WoW since Burning Crusade.

WoW was the game that would make or break the company at the time. It became a huge success, which is why the focused heavily on its development. Now with all the other Blizz games they are maintaining, the content flow for WoW has slowed down to a crawl. Oh well.

The main reason this game has tanked in subs is they go through periods of a year and a half without new content. That is ok for games without a sub but for one you have to pay extra just to play it is no good.

OK, so I've played WoW off-and-on since 2005. During long periods between expansions I usually fall away, then I come back during the next expansion and begin the cycle anew. I feel that waiting until August is just way too long. I had been hoping for June, and was considering re-upping my subscription prior to June to get back into the world prior to the expansion launch (there's usually a pre-patch which implements many new changes and sometimes a pre-expansion event, etc), but now I guess I'll wait until the expansion gets closer and I actually see the pre-patch implemented before I go back.

As far as the health of WoW, I actually like the convenience features added like matchmaking, for the most part, but I just felt like they didn't push out expansions fast enough, despite saying they wanted to. This will mark like 18 months since Warlords of Draenor came out or something I heard, so it's understandable that people are getting sick and tired of the content.

So I'll go back in August or sometime in the summer. I have high hopes for Legion, with many new changes to talents and with the artifacts, and I hope more heirlooms, since I LOVE leveling alts (I'm an altaholic). I'll play through at least once to level 110, then assess what the "end game" content consists of, since I don't raid except for LFR (due to time constraints). I may end up quitting again 6 months later, who knows, but I hope the game will keep me engaged enough that I'll stick with it.

Same game since 2004....

You know a game is bad when it encourages you to skip its own core gameplay mechanics.

WoW is a timesink.

I don't understand when people try to differentiate between "casual" and "hardcore" in this game, it's not the same as it is with others. The only real difference is the amount of time you spend into the game.

WoW is an insanely braindead game otherwise.

I still find it amazing they can charge full price for an expansion yet still require a monthly payment. Blizzard be doin' good!

I wish I was still a virgin so I could check this game out.

I come back with every expansion hoping they changed the core game into something meaning full with lots of actually interaction between players, valid achievements (not just PvP / Raids), interesting content and a more "hardcore" feel (You need to actually work to get something done).

Instead I am met with more "casual" mechanics (raid finder, instant lvl 100, Garrison, server groups, simpler skill tree, etc.) which only promotes solo play. I could play with a world full of NPC's and I wouldn't find it any different. I never felt so alone in a MMO game as I do in WoW and they just seem to keep the same pace while adding more solo mechanics to the game.

This expansion will not fix my issues with the game, thus I will only be watching the news about how they adding nothing new but still managed to "add" a ridiculous new system (like pokemon).

Make a WoW 2 or Warcraft 4

It's a casual money grab at this point. Blizzards just using it to finance other titles.

Instant lvl to 100 is representative of exactly what went wrong with WoW and why I no longer play it.

WoD + Guild Wars 2 world scaling + Diablo 3 bounties = Legion.

People wanna blame WoD for WoW's downfall when in reality it's Blizzards fault for not releasing content fast enough or at all, cause sorry 13 months with no new content is gonna drive people away. Look at Wotlk probably arguably one of the best if not the best WoW expansion (BC would be the other contender), they came out with content at a steady pace with Wotlk, BC and even vanilla WoW, I mean hell you compare the patch notes from those updates/expansions and you can see how much they put work into WoW from vanilla to Wotlk.

WoD was pretty decent for what it did, it brought a lot of WC3/WC characters "back to life", even garrisons were pretty fun except every garrison looked the same. I know people wanna blame garrisons for part of the downfall of WoW cause it "made people not sociable", like they thought people were sociable pre WoD? uhhh hell no the MoP hubs were worse and Org/IF/SW were dead long before WoD and hell no one barely used TB, UC or DN as hubs even pre Wotlk.

Is Legion gonna save WoW?, most likely no cause there's MMO's out there that are just as good as WoW.
