When Is Cyberpunk 2077 Coming Out? New Release Date After The Latest Delay

The release date for CD Project Red's much-anticipated game has been pushed back again.

Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red's upcoming RPG, has been delayed once again. The studio shared the news earlier this month but also provided a new Cyberpunk 2077 release date of November 19 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One--two months after the previously scheduled September 17 date. A next-generation update that improves performance on Xbox Series X and PS5 will come at launch, with a more substantial update also arriving later.

In a statement posted to Twitter, the developer explained that the game is not yet ready for launch, although it is complete in terms of content and gameplay. The additional development time will be used to balance mechanics and fix bugs.

Now Playing: Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed, Spider-Man: Miles Morales Explained, & PS5 DualSense Trademark | Save State

"Those of you who are familiar with the way we make games know that we won't ship something which is not ready," CDPR wrote. "'Ready when it's done' is not just a phrase we say because it sounds right, it's something we live by even when we know we'll take the heat for it.

"At the time we are writing these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise," CDPR continued. "The quests, the cutscenes, the skills and items; all the adventures Night City has to offer--it's all there. But with such an abundance of content and complex systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that."

This is the latest in a series of delays to Cyberpunk 2077, the ambitious open-world game that marks the next huge release for the Witcher studio. The game was previously due out last year and has been pushed back a number of times. Despite this latest delay, we've now heard a bunch more about the new game as part of the Cyberpunk Night City Wire event, which showcased new gameplay and revealed the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

In related Cyberpunk 2077 news, Microsoft and CDPR's custom Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One has a secret message inscribed on it. The message, which is revealed by shining a UV light on the back of the console, is actually pretty sweet and heartfelt.

With the game now scheduled to drop on November 19, be sure to check out our detailed Cyberpunk 2077 pre-order guide to learn about the various editions and bonuses available. And though the special Xbox One X may be sold out, there are several other Cyberpunk 2077-themed accessories still up for purchase.

Translation1/2:

We've managed to push back two solid release dates because its financially prudent of us to make sure we get the current gen console sales as well as the next gen ones, including from gamers who upgrade on day 1.

OR

Translation 1/2:

There's a problem we're trying to fix that's going to set us back a few weeks that we don't feel the need to share because of the bad press it'll get when you see "Cyberpunk 2077 experiencing development issues" plastered everywhere.

I get CDPR is the "anti-corporate" good guys all gamers know and love.

But they're still a company and maximizing profits will always be equal to releasing a quality product no matter how benevolent a company is.

I have a really big hunch that this delay has very little to do with the state of the game. 1 month? I'm curious if it has more to do with what is/was in the release window of either date.

Persia is cute. (Hope it doesn't violate any policies to say so.)

While I'm sad that Cyberpunk 2077 is being delayed. I gotta say, I really respect CD Projekt Red not doing the ol' "ship broken, patch later" routine! I'm really tired of that market strategy. Super excited for this game! 🤩😍🥰

On a side note and completely unrelated topic... What's up mobile games ad videos showing mock gameplay that's completely unrelated to the game they are advertising! Seriously! Can round up the people responsible for this and force them to retire? 😒🤦‍♂️

TAKING ALL BETS!!!.....TAKING ALL BETS!!!!!

This game is gonna hit the stores BROKEN...then month after month, they're gonna make people wait for patches and updates to fix the problems they've literally had YEEAAARRRSS to iron out....Why?...Because gamers in this generation are dumb f**ks, and they know it. You idiots pay for the game and constantly pump MORE money into the same games that come out broken ON PURPOSE!!!

This is all pre-planned because these developers realized years ago how dumb and gullible gamers have become.

WHO WANTS IN ON THIS BET!?!??!

@HarlemV Ya cause thats a great way to maximize profits and secure them in the future, release broken products, your sure to make your stock holders happy like that. What a stupid thing to say. Can you imagine in their board meeting them saying "Ok,heres how were gonna function as a company" GTFO guy.

@maccmosley: What's stupid is disagreeing with actual FACTS. And apparently, YOU are one of the masses that go out and pay money for these games that come out broken, then pay MORE money for these "fixes". Only a moron would sit there and say something that's actually been happening for freaking YEARS now actually isn't happening at all. And yes, it DOES maximize profits.

Releasing broken games goes hand in hand with microtransactions. It's the same damn thing. And you clowns who call yourselves gamers now are the ones keeping these practices alive....ruining gaming for the rest of us.

@HarlemVIP: You're both correct and incorrect. Where do you think some studios get funding from? I can certainly bet that there's some private investors involved in this game and every other game released. At that point you're bound by contract to do your damndest to turn a profit for them. That's also why alot of the time we see games get pushed and patched. Its about fiscal years and numbers. Be it from parent companies who are run by suits who only care about numbers or from private investors who spend their own cash on small studios with good ideas to see them to fruition. Money is always supreme because without it its a matter of time before your business dies.

ON the opposite end, we've had a slew of developers who have shown us that this type of model won't work after a while. Bethesda is the easiest example. Look at how much crap gets talked about them on here for releasing buggy crap and re releasing the same game with more makeup on it over and over and over again.

Fans will get sick of it. BUT CDPR has done such a great job of marketing itself as the "underdog" that fans will excuse their consistent delays. TW3 was such a great game but even that game got flak for looking much better graphically than it did during its E3 demo.

But in their defense the DLC for TW3 was probably the first time in the last two console generations that gamers actually got basically 2/3 of the base game for 2/3 of the price in terms of content. And THAT's why CDPR needs to release a quality product.

They've not only set the bar for the industry in that sense, but they've set it for themselves.

That being said.. I'd rather still not have a release date or even at least a "range" this whole time rather than having it pushed back twice after placing solid release dates.

@stiefjac: Okay, but here is MY problem. I'm gonna be 43 years old this year....I pretty much pre-date video games AND cell phones (and color TV's for that matter...BUT ANYWAY!!)...but I remember CLEARLY how much hell gamers back when I was young brought to these companies for putting out broken or even crappy games. Some companies couldn't even put out another attempt if something they fed us was really screwed up. Contrast that to now, and these people accept EVERYTHING given to them, spend MORE money each money....and then complain what they're doing to THEMSELVES.

No Man's Sky, Mass Effect Andromeda, Dragon Age Inquisition, and this other game whose name escapes me right now....but these are examples of games that had YEARS of development, but when they came out, they were messed up. Gamers these days didn't care. Spent money, and STILL complained. had that been MY generation, we wouldn't have waited for any patches or fixes...you just weren't making another dime from us.

Now, I understand everything you're saying about how the industry works, and it p*sses me off to think it's come to this. But it's only going to get way worse in the next 5 years if people keep on allowing it, and feeding the pig more and more each time. THAT'S where my gripe starts. It's not me speaking from up high. It's me getting mad on behalf of EVERYBODY...or at least trying to

A game from Projekt Red being delayed should never surprise anyway. That said, this does feel like it will finally give them the time they need to polish it up (no pun intended). That or they are delaying to coincide with the next gen console releases, as some have said.

The new release date sounds pretty predictable. Me thinks it may be a next GEN release title since the date corresponds with the time frame the new consoles will arrive.

I have nothing but utmost respect for any gaming company, especially CD Projekt Red, that takes it's time and fixes all bugs before launch. I'm playing far too many games that are full of bugs and that should have been in development at least 6 more months. Right now I'm playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and it is riddled with annoying technical bugs everywhere you look. It's like they used their G-team on it... it's really that bad. It could have been a 9 game but because of the infuriating amount bugs, crappy controls and glitches, I'm giving it a 7 at most. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was stunning and mind blowing in every way possible and a perfect game. Kudos to CD Projekt Red and I can't wait to play!

@ooozephyrosooo: - What platform are you playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on? I played through that whole game on Windows and don't remember any bugs. If there were any they were minimal and far between. Definitely not a game riddled with bugs.

@datameister: I can only imagine he’s playing it on PS4, as I played through the entire game at launch on Xbox One X (also played it a bit on my Day One Edition) and had no problems whatsoever. I actually loved the game so much I paused playing my second playthrough of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 to finish it, it’s just that good a game. I’m currently playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider (from Humble Bundle Choice) again on Windows, and the game looks insane 😬

@VGjunkie87: Better yet, buy it directly from GOG, so that CD Projekt Red gets every well deserved dollar and cent. You can still launch it in Steam if that pleases.

@deviltaz35: Well I'm hearing quite a bit. I've heard that Nvidia has found out a lot about the architecture since the release of the 2 series GPUs, and that the RTX 3060 or 3070 may be as powerful as the 2080TI. Basically the 2 series GPUs were Nvidia's experiment into ray tracing and that the 2 series cards may not age well, because the 3 series architecture is so much more efficient at its work. On the software side, we will see enormous advancements from DLSS. Nvidia may be working to have its use in any game, with or without the developer's support.

oh well another couple of months isnt going to kill me besides the game is complete and its not like the situation of Duke Nukem "taking" Forever where they changed the engine used and it took giving it to gearbox to get released and that still was a shitty game.
