Ubisoft: Watch Dogs progressing "very well," will be top-seller in 2014
CEO Yves Guillemot says team happy to have extra time to create a "very high quality" game.
Watch Dogs and The Crew, two next-generation games Ubisoft delayed last month, are progressing "very well," CEO Yves Guillemot said today during an earnings call.
Guillemot went on to say that the development teams are "really happy" to take advantage of the extra development time so as to achieve "very high quality games."
In the case of Watch Dogs specifically, Guillemot said the delay should allow the game to be a top-seller in 2014. "And so we are confident with the game and its ability to be one of the best sellers of next year," Guillemot said.
Watch Dogs was scheduled as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, before Ubisoft delayed the game to spring 2014 in October. Guillemot said previously that the game's delay will give it "far bigger potential" at launch.
As for The Crew, it never had an official launch date, but was also delayed in October to sometime in Ubisoft's upcoming financial quarter, meaning the earliest the game could be released is April 1, 2014.
