HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 is now in production, and four more cast members have joined.

Danny Ramirez, known for Top Gun: Maverick and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will play the soldier Manny. Ariela Barer (Marvel's Runaways) will play the doctor Mel, Tati Gabrielle (Uncharted, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is playing the medic Nora. Finally, Spencer Lord (Riverdale) has been cast as the antagonist Owen. Variety confirmed the casting details.

These four new cast members join the previously announced additions for Season 2, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Catherine O'Hara in an unspecified role.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return from Season 1 to reprise the main characters, Joel and Ellie. Season 2 adapts at least part of the events of The Last of Us: Part II, and anyone who's played the game or knows the story understands there is a lot of drama to come.

The reaction to the story of The Last of Us: Part II led to chaos and controversy among players and the fanbase. Some people even sent death threats about the infant child of Abby actress Laura Bailey after a key moment played near the start of the game.

The Last of Us Season 2 is expected to release in 2025. Recently, Merced discussed the "palpable" chemistry she has with Ramsey now that filming on Season 2 is underway.

As for the video game series, no new entries have been announced, but writer-director Neil Druckmann has said The Last of Us: Part III might be in the works. Developer Naughty Dog was recently in the news after Sony announced 900 layoffs at PlayStation, including cuts at The Last of Us studio.
