An improvised monologue by the actor on Parks and Recreation accurately foretold the bounty hunter's return.

As it turns out, back in 2013 comedian and actor Patton Oswalt accurately predicted nearly every detail of The Book of Boba Fett's opening scenes during an improvised monologue on the sitcom Parks and Recreation.

Oswalt's character, Garth Blundin, delivered a nine-minute speech--a filibuster blocking Amy Poehler's character, Leslie Knope--that wasn't scripted. Oswalt, clearly sticking to a subject he knows well, lays out his dream scenario for how Boba Fett escaped certain death after falling in the Sarlacc pit. But, just like The Simpsons has repeatedly done, he wound up prophesizing correctly.

"We pan down from the twin suns of Tatooine," said Oswalt as Blundin. "We are now close on the mouth of the Sarlacc pit. After a beat, the gloved Mandalorian armor gauntlet of Boba Fett grabs onto the sand outside the Sarlacc pit, and the feared bounty hunter pulls himself from the maw of the sand beast."

Speaking with the Observer back in 2020, Oswalt said the script only says, "Garth starts to begin to filibuster," and that the writers told him to "just do whatever you want." Oswalt added that he was originally supposed to filibuster for 10 seconds of footage, but wound up going as long as he possibly could.

On Twitter, Oswalt responded to fans recently highlighting the surprising similarities by saying he's "touched," and also adds that "Book of Boba Fett rocks. You're welcome."

Oswalt stars in the 2021 stop-motion series M.O.D.O.K. on Hulu, which got a warm reception by critics and GameSpot also recently rated as one of the 10 best Hulu original TV shows streaming right now.

The Book of Boba Fett premiered on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
