Following yesterday's surprise debut of a teaser poster for The Acolyte, Lucasfilm has now released the official trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series. The series will debut with a two-episode premiere starting on June 4. The Acolyte will be helmed by Russian Doll showrunner Leslye Headland.

The Acolyte is the first live-action adaptation of the High Republic era, which was the peak of the Jedi Order. Murder and mystery are brewing for the galactic guardians and a dark force threatens their entire existence. Check out the trailer below.

"Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you," Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) tells his students. "We must not trust them." Those words mirror the first lesson that Obi-Wan Kenobi gave a brash Luke Skywalker. Follow that, we see a cantina brawl between Carrie-Anne Moss' Master Indara and a masked knife-wielding attacker. It closes out with the ignition of a blood-red lightsaber twirling at a group of Jedi.

Headland told StarWars.com she wanted to mold the story after some of her favorite martial arts sagas and samurai films like Come Drink With Me and Yojimbo. Since the High Republic is during a time that was spared epic, galaxy-spanning wars and battles, Headland chose to focus her storytelling on more personal conflicts and the chance to bring new characters to the screen such as Mirialan Jedi Vernestra Rwoh, played by actor Rebecca Henderson.

"I'm just so excited for people to see her in this show because she is so different," Headland explained. "She's very rarely in the mission robes adventuring and dreaming. I think, as the show goes on, you'll understand why. She has seen so much and she is so in tune and in love with the Force. Here she's much more of a high-ranking official. The other Jedi revere her. I'm just really excited for people to see her in this show and to see the performance."

The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
