Star Wars: Squadrons Supports Flight Sim Controllers On PC

Another detail about EA's newly announced Star Wars dogfighting game has been confirmed. Creative director Ian Frazier said on Twitter that Star Wars: Squadrons will support flight stick controllers on PC.

Frazier said to a fan, "Yes, we fully support joystick on PC, including full HOTAS rigs with a throttle."

HOTAS stands for "hands on throttle and stick." The takeaway here is that PC players who want to live the fantasy of being a fighter pilot in space can get one step closer with special controllers on PC.

There is no word yet on a list of supported controllers, or if it will also work on console, but Frazier said in another tweet that more details will come soon. EA will share more details on Star Wars: Squadrons during EA Play Live 2020 on June 18, and you can watch the show here at GameSpot.

Star Wars: Squadrons launches on October 2 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The PS4 and PC editions will support virtual reality, but there is no word yet on supported headsets.

Squadrons is a budget-priced game, launching at $40 USD. The game has a new and original Star Wars story, along with multiplayer in the form of 5v5 matches featuring cross-play across console and PC.

Pre-orders for Star Wars: Squadrons are available now. EA and Origin Access subscribers can play the game for 10 hours at launch for free, after which they can buy the full game for 10 percent off. Origin Access Premiere subscribers, meanwhile, will get the full Squadrons game at no extra cost. You can also pre-order on the Xbox and PlayStation digital storefronts, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and major retailers starting today.
