Spider-Man's First DLC Arrives In October, Followed By Two More Later This Year
Another of Peter's ex-flames is back in his life.
Insomniac Games community director James Stevenson has announced on the PlayStation Blog that Spider-Man will be getting post-launch DLC on October 23. Titled The Heist, the DLC is the first of a three-part expansion called The City That Never Sleeps. Each part seems to focus on a different character from Spider-Man's circle of friends and foes, with the first being about one of Spidey's ex-flames.
The Heist focuses on Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. Throughout the main game, you'll find clues scattered throughout New York that hint she might be back in the city. However, she won't make an actual appearance until The Heist launches.
In the comics, Peter Parker's love life typically bounces between three women: Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacey, and Felicia Hardy. Mary Jane has already been confirmed for the game, and is even playable in certain missions. In most comic incantations, Gwen Stacey dies early into Peter's career as a superhero, so it stands to reason that she has already passed away by the events of the game.

Felicia is never really Peter's girlfriend, as she's mostly written as the charismatic sex appeal that tempts him away from being with Mary Jane. As Black Cat, Felicia was originally a jewel thief before trying her hand at being an anti-hero to impress Spider-Man, whom she playfully refers to as "Spider." Black Cat's affection for Spider-Man shifts between lust and love with every new iteration of the character, but one thing always remains the same: she wants Black Cat to be with Spider-Man, not for Felicia to be with Peter. Normal life without masks is just too boring for her.
The Heist DLC is followed by Turf Wars in November and Silver Lining in December. There are plenty of gang leaders that Turf Wars might refer to, but Silver Lining most likely is a DLC about Silver Sable, who's a confirmed antagonist in PS4's Spider-Man. All three DLCs add new story missions, challenges, enemies, and suits. Each expansion costs $10 on its own, but the whole The City That Never Sleeps collection can be bought for $25. The City That Never Sleeps also comes included in the Spider-Man Digital Deluxe Edition, which it available for pre-order.
Spider-Man comes to PS4 on September 7. In our Spider-Man review, we gave the game a 9/10.
