SNES Classic Edition Pre-orders Available Right Now In The US [UPDATE: SOLD OUT]

This is all about driving up demand for classic games on the eshop. They release these pos consoles, then snatch them away. Consumers are left pissed off but thinking at least they can still get the games for their switch or whatever. I really wish people wouldn't humor nintendo.

How the hell can pre-orders run out of stock?

Why people want to pay $80 for an emulator, idk. I certainly wouldn't give Nintendo my money for the kind of garbage they pull with their retro systems.

If they want to throttle unit sales, why not announce it's a limited supply/time only? Wouldn't be anything new, even the PS4 had a retro edition in grey. PR without people thinking they're full of sh1t, huzzah!

Also find it kinda sad that most will end up "unused and boxed" on someones shelf as to not hurt future value...

How many times does fact and reality have to prove you wrong before you wise up? Give us a number.

Nintendo's tried and true formula for getting tons of free advertising:

1. Create hype using nostalgia.

2. Create false shortage blaming supply issues. (Funny how PS2 was best selling console ever but never really had supply issues??)

3. Continue false shortage to generate free publicity.

4. Piss off 98% of Nintendo fans while e-bay scalpers hijack most units.

5. Repeat step 3 ad nauseum.

The race between Michael Phelps and that fake shark lasted longer than this presale. The difference is, I actually believed the hype for the race.

the shortage crap is such a joke. If nintendo released breathable air it would be at a shortage too. I am going to task my 55-year old father who knows nothing of video games to find one of these for christmas and he will succeed. Probably by going to GameStop or Wal-Mart.

It really amazes me how people are "okay" with Nintendo's recycled marketing campaign. No new hi-spec console with original IP's to compete with Sony or Xbox..just another handheld gimmick and gratuitously priced "classics" hidden behind a fabricated supply-and-demand-wall.

meh. the value wasn't there anyways... sega and atari are offering the consumer far better value (more games, options to play with original carts and controllers, wireless controller, etc.) by comparison to this barebone release.

Just a gimmick 4 collectors and hipsters. Why would you buy a console that limits the games you can have 4 it? I'd rather look for an original snes + games then

No thanks. Still have my original SNES hooked up to one of my tvs with contra alien wars in it. Ready to play at a moment's notice .
