During a Nintendo Direct presentation focused on third-party games on Monday morning, the company revealed a release date window for Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei V. It will be coming to Switch in 2021--and, notably, with a simultaneous worldwide release. An exact date was not shared, but the news was paired with word of a Switch and PS4 remaster of Shin Megami Tensei III.

The release window came at the end of a cinematic trailer, which you can watch below. It ends with the tagline, "The time for Creation has come." In a separate announcement, Nintendo describes the game as an "epic role-playing game" and says that "order itself has crumbled and chaos reigns over all."

Now Playing: Shin Megami Tensei V - Coming 2021 Trailer

Atlus has been teasing SMT V since 2017. It was first revealed after the company had announced it was making a Switch-exclusive Shin Megami Tensei game. The company later announced it would be getting a western release in North America and Europe, but this is the first we've heard of a simultaneous worldwide release. Past SMT games have often not come to the West until many months after their debut in Japan.

Shin Megami Tensei V had been previously known under the placeholder name Shin Megami Tensei: Brand New Title. At the time it had its own trailer, showing a destroyed office building and vicious-looking demons.

The Nintendo Direct Mini presentation began with a note that, due to COVID-19, "release dates and other information presented in this video are subject to change."
