An eBay auction for a Samus Aran Amiibo toy that features two arm canons has sold for $2,500. It's a factory defect, of course, as Samus is only supposed to have one arm cannon.

That mistake makes this Samus Amiibo quite rare, and a compelling collector's item. Not surprisingly, a total of 19 different bidders fought for the factory-sealed toy, lodging 75 total bids before the auction ended this afternoon after a week on the market.

The Samus Amiibo sold on eBay was the same one that appeared last week on Reddit. We caught up with the seller today, who told us that he is pleased with the closing price.

"I decided to sell it after all and I am very happy with how it turned out," he said.

Indeed he should be, as he purchased the Samus Amiibo toy at Best Buy for just $13.

I also asked if he considered keeping the Samus Amiibo, or even donating it to a museum or to Nintendo. Here's what he had to say.

"That thought had not crossed my mind," he said. "However, if approached by Nintendo, I probably would have. I was considering hanging on to it to sell at a later date if the value did increase. However, with the high level of interest shown at the time when I posted it, I thought I'd go ahead and sell it now in case the value went down or a whole tub of them was discovered at a later date."

The first wave of Amiibo launched in November alongside fighting game Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the first game to support the toys. Nintendo plans to release lots more Amiibo toys starting later this month, so two-cannon Samus might not be the last mistake to make it to market.
