Rockstar hiring to bring "latest titles" to PC

Since-removed job posting at Rockstar Leeds suggests company's newest games could come to PC.

Rockstar Leeds recently posted (and has since removed) a job listing for a programmer who would assist in bringing the company's "latest titles" to PC.

No Caption Provided

"Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform," reads a line from the job ad as captured by Rockstar Watch.

"Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible."

The requisition also mentions "working with skilled developers on next generation gamers," suggesting Rockstar will continue to release games on PC in the future.

A Rockstar Games representative was not immediately available to comment.

Some of Rockstar Games' "latest titles" currently unavailable or unannounced for PC include 2010's Red Dead Redemption and this September's Grand Theft Auto V. The company has said a PC version of GTAV is "up for consideration."

Rockstar Games released the first official gameplay trailer for GTAV today. For more, check out GameSpot's editor analysis of the footage.

Well, I'm all for bringing GTA V to the PC. But I must say, having played RDR on the 360, I don't see a need for a PC port. It looks and runs great with little to no room for improvement (and I'm not a fan of mods).

@Keivz_basic How can a person "not be a fan of mods" ??? Have these people played a modded Skyrim or GTAIV?

@Slade968 @Keivz_basic Mods offer little to no benefit over a professionally produced game while more often than not being a headache to implement with time wasted finding/installing/troubleshooting/updating them... plus the risk of ruining your game install, and the incompatiabilities that pop up (especially in multiplayer). And even the best mods have inconsistencies/bugs, etc and have to go through numerous revisions before they approach being acceptable.

I like to play my game, finish them, then move on rather than fussing around with a non-canon/non-professionally produced modification to the original artist's vision.

@Slade968 @Keivz_basic I never played Skyrim (not for me). And yes, I recognize mods create games--none of which I find the least bit appealing. I looked into the GTA IV mods--downloading them was a hassle and when I finally did get one it turned out it wasn't compatible with the latest patch (with 'fixes' causing other problems). It's too much of a hassle to uninstall and downgrade (non steam version) and I wondered why I bothered in the first place as in the end it would offer minimal improvement to an already amazing game. It was a headache all in all--not atypical of the mod scene. I stand by my statements. I'm glad some people have the time/patience to enjoy these things but I don't see them as a plus for the PC platform.

@Keivz_basic @Slade968 Ah, you answered my question. You haven't played a modded Skyrim or GTAIV because everything you said is wrong. Between Nexus and Steam Workshop the mods are easy to implement and use.

"Little to no benefit over a professionally produced game" ? Modders were patching Skyrim glitches before Bethesda because they got to them faster and did a better job of it. Not to mention the hours of new content that they provided in the form of new objectives/characters/weapons and complete new worlds that were gorgeous.

That's not even getting into the graphical improvements. A modded GTA IV makes GTA V look like it is running on a wii.

I suspect you have never actually used mods or it has been many years since you have because all your points are ignorant.

Mods create games. Games like Counter-Strike, Natural Selection, DOTA, Dayz are mods or originated from them.

@moistsandwich @VarHyid @Super_Tramp @WhiteStormy Define "rest of the world". If you mean is it your problem - no, of course not, but if you mean the developer then yes, it's his "problem", or rather concern because with each platform they extend the potential customer base so saying "just buy the platform we choose to support" is like saying "we only want your money if you have a lot of it" which is just... stupid, why would they want to limit their potential income.

So, to clarify - no, they're not obliged to do anything, but doesn't it seem to be more rational for them to target a larger market than just wait for people to get richer?

@gufberg I can see it being Steam based. GFWL is pretty much dead now.

@kamikazeespleen @gufberg Developers have, in the past, gladly both added steam + GFWL. But yea - it is pretty much dead now so there is that.

I'd buy Red Dead Redemption again if it came out on PC. Same goes for GTAV.

I am so happy because hopefully it will shut every PC gamers begging for PC version version in every GTA V posts. Come one, it is not surprising that GTA would would come to PC eventually, we have a thing called history which more often than not, tell us how things play out.

@Gamer_4_Fun If people weren't asking for it all the time Rockstar would construe it as indifference and we wouldn't get it.

This article has made my day. I know nothing is solid or confirmed yet, but man, I'll be such a happy camper once Red Dead Redemption is set to launch on PC. Definitely buying it - and of course, Grand Theft Auto V too.

@moistsandwich @Super_Tramp @WhiteStormy Yes, because everyone can afford all platforms and it's the obligation of the gamer to have them rather than the developer to provide the game for as many platforms as they can.

That said, if there's anyone here who should STFU, it's not Super_Tramp ;)

@WhiteStormy YEAH! GTA V for the master race! Awesome news!

But seriously, I wish every game would be available on any platform (as far as possible), not everyone has the money to have all consoles and a gaming PC just to enjoy the best of gaming each console can offer.

@Super_Tramp @WhiteStormy If I was constantly whining about this and that not being available on my preferred console, I wouldn't have the audacity to refer to myself as the "master race". Just sayin.
