Red Dead Redemption 2 Reaches New Player-Count Peak Four Years After PC Launch
Apparently, a Black Friday sale led to a huge influx of people experiencing Arthur Morgan's story.
There are more cowboys and cowgirls checking out the wild west in Red Dead Redemption 2 than ever on PC. The Rockstar game saw over 77,000 players on November 26--a new high-water mark for the open-world title focusing on Arthur Morgan.
This surge of players seems tied to a Black Friday sale for Red Dead Redemption 2, according to Twitter/X user videotechuk_. They pointed out the new player-count peak; SteamDB backed up the statement by showcasing 77,655 playing the game yesterday. That's a new record for the action-adventure title and comes four years after it launched on PC in November 2019.
The previous player-count peak for Red Dead Redemption 2 occurred almost exactly one year ago with 66,492 people on November 27, 2022. Just like this time, a Steam sale was noted as the likely factor boosting the game about outlaws with the Van der Linde gang.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 50 million copies overall, and it's one of the top 10 best-selling games of all time. It's joined on the list by another Rockstar title: Grand Theft Auto V.
Speaking of Rockstar, the studio has confirmed a GTA 6 trailer is arriving next month. The video will also help celebrate the developer's 25th anniversary.
