Hot on the heels of a big update that added the Naturalist specialty, another update to Red Dead Redemption 2 adds even more animals and special bonuses.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online recently issued a large new update that added legendary animals and a new Naturalist specialty. Now the game has quickly followed up with even more for Naturalists to do, thanks to an update that introduces more animals, special bonuses, and refreshed content in the various shops.

The big additions are two new species of gators, the Teca and the Sun. They're native to the Kamassa River and Lannahechee River, respectively, and you can earn a special O'Quinn Hat for taking down the Teca and special Helsby Gloves for the Sun Gator. You'll also earn a 50% bonus in XP and payouts for the new legendary animals. You can craft coats from their hides at Gus' Trapper Store, and you'll get a bonus Corchado Poncho if you buy either one. Gus also offers an Alligator variant of the Improved Bow.

New Naturalists can claim a free Role Accessory, outfit, or Emote, along with other bonus items for sedating any animal or completing an Animal Sighting mission. Naturalists can also get a variety of shop bonuses through September 21, to encourage new players to put the role through its paces.

Finally, the update adds several new permanent clothing additions to the catalogue, along with new limited-time clothing and colorways. Twitch Prime users can get a free Katata Coat, five free animal pheromones, 6,000 free Naturalist XP, a wilderness camp, and several in-game discounts.

The Naturalist role comes in two varieties, a zoologist or wildlife hunter. Those two are incompatible for fairly obvious reasons, but you can pick your poison by visiting the Strawberry Town Welcome Center. You'll ultimately be working for one of two mission givers, the conservationist Harriet Davenport or the big game hunter Gus MacMillan.
