PS5 Restocks During Black Friday 2020 And Cyber Monday 2020
Looking to buy a PS5 over Black Friday and Cyber Monday? We're tracking upcoming restocks from major retailers like Walmart and GameStop.
Black Friday 2020 offered PlayStation fans a chance to pick up the new PS5 console following the launch day craze, which saw the system sell out almost instantly across several major retailers and digital storefronts. If you're still looking to pick up a PS5 before Black Friday is over, or maybe by next week's Cyber Monday shopping event, it might not be the easiest task. Walmart's console restock sold out within minutes this week and we don't expect any future restocks to go any differently. Scalpers have been cashing in on the situation by hoarding the system and selling them for over $1,000 each, making the average shopper's ability to buy one before the holidays even more of headache. GameStop offered "limited stock" of the PS5 console in-stores only on Black Friday, but massive lines had already formed the previous day, leaving all but the most dedicated fans without that as a real option--some people even brought mattresses, other game consoles, and entertainment centers with them. Other than that, Sony has confirmed more stock will be available before the end of the year, as well. We'll be tracking everything we know about PS5 Black Friday restocks and availability throughout this week and the weekend leading up into Cyber Monday, so stay tuned.
Where to buy the PS5 during Black Friday 2020
Black Friday GameStop PS5 restock
- When: 7 AM on Friday, November 27
- Where: In-stores only
GameStop had an in-store-only PS5 stock on Black Friday. All stores had a minimum of two PS5 units available when they opened at 7 AM local time this Friday, November 27. However, enormous lines formed hours before that, with more than a dozen people at some locations lined up for just a few systems. We definitely suggest calling your store first to check on Black Friday PS5 availability and wear a facemask if you decide to go in person. It's unclear if the PS5 Digital Edition is included in the restock. You can also try your luck with occasional restocks on the GameStop website, though these have taken the form of expensive bundles thus far.
Black Friday Walmart PS5 restock
Walmart restocked the PS5 on November 25 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET, but the consoles sold out within two minutes. The PS5 listings now say the consoles are "out of stock" at Walmart, and there's no information on when PS5 stock will next be available. Walmart has kept all of its restocks online-only so far, so you likely won't find the PS5 in Walmart stores this Black Friday. It's possible a restock could come before Christmas, but the store hasn't indicated anything yet.
Other possible PS5 restocks and options
Best Buy has confirmed it will not have any PS5 units in stores throughout the entire holiday season, so you won't see the PS5 in any Best Buy brick-and-mortar stores until 2021. Though the PS5 appears in Best Buy's Black Friday ad, the retailer would not confirm Black Friday availability to GameSpot and said that stock will be available on BestBuy.com when they get more units. We have also seen stock go up without much warning prior to Black Friday, including in the middle of the night. Keep an eye out and you might be able to score one ahead of time.
PlayStation Direct has been running queues on its site nearly every day since launch, but finding a queue on PS Direct doesn't necessarily mean the PS5 is in stock; it simply indicates high traffic to the store. It never hurts to jump in and wait if you find the queue and you'll be at your computer for a while, but know there's no guarantee it'll be in stock by the time you get through.
Of course, you can always find the PS5 and its accessories on reseller sites like StockX and Ebay, but you'll likely pay hundreds above MSRP for the console. For context, resell prices at StockX are currently between $800 and $900, though you can place bids to buy the console for less. The site has plenty of stock, so if you're desperate, it's worth checking out to see if you can negotiate a decent price.
