PS5 Restock Tracker Latest Update: Check Stock Ahead Of Black Friday

Looking to score a PS5 this holiday season? It'll be tough but not impossible.

If you signed up for PS5 restock alerts at PS Direct, make sure to check your email today. PlayStation Direct sent another batch of invites to purchase the PS5. The latest invite-only PS Direct restock will be available at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET. After the invite-only round is over, there's a chance a public queue will go live. PS Direct has done this in the past, following up a private restock with a public one at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.

The PS5 has passed its first birthday, but despite impressive sales numbers, the console remains scarce. You've never been able to walk in a store and find one on shelves, and online stock is almost always sold out. With the holiday season upon us, demand for the PS5 will only go up as it gets added to a flurry of wishlists. It may be quite difficult to find a PS5 or PS5 Digital in time for the holidays, but it won't be impossible.

To help you out, we've rounded up all of the retailer listings for the PS5 and PS5 Digital in one place. Each time a restock is announced or randomly pops up, we'll update this article.

We see at least a couple of PS5 restocks each week at major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop. Sony also has fairly regular restocks at PS Direct. But you always have to be fast (and lucky) to purchase one before stock runs out. Consoles tend to sell out in minutes, if not seconds, so it's really all about nimble fingers and good timing.

PS5 - $500 | PS5 Digital - $400
PS5 - $500 | PS5 Digital - $400

Walmart will have the PS5 in stock starting November 22 of Black Friday week. The console will only be available to purchase online, and supply is unsurprisingly limited. Like other restocks, we'd expect Walmart to sell out quickly, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Walmart release stock in waves throughout the week. GameStop will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock at select stores on Thanksgiving. We're still waiting on ads from other retailers, but we anticipate that more retailers will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock for Black Friday.

Keep in mind there's also the chance that PS5 restocks will be limited to paid members at select retailers in the coming weeks.

Best Buy recently launched a $200/year membership called Totaltech, and select restocks have been limited to members. Walmart has done the same for its $98/year membership. Likewise, GameStop has made certain restocks only available to PowerUp Rewards Pro members. And, of course, Amazon could lock PS5s behind its Prime membership. Meanwhile, retailers like Costco and Sam's Club--which require memberships to shop--have always required memberships for PS5 restocks.

Recent PS5 restocks

Below, you'll find the most recent PS5 restock dates at major retailers.

  • Walmart: November 9
  • Best Buy: November 15
  • Costco: October 28
  • Antonline: October 28
  • Target: October 27
  • Amazon: October 26
  • GameStop: October 26
  • PS Direct: October 26 (register for future restocks)
  • Sam's Club: October 22

Don't bother with the Walmart site. Total joke.

I wish they would sell in store. then all those bots selling on ebay will lose big.

The only stock climbing is the ones posted on Ebay... Wasn't that long ago there were less than 4k listings now close to 6k... That doesn't even account for the many people who have like 50+ of them available to sell. Hopefully they lose their asses on those listings with people refusing to support scalpers.

Been trying to get one since their release. If I were a developer I would be very disappointed in the new generation, developing anything on them just means money lost since your game literally can't get played by your player base and by the time the consoles will be available your game will already be pushed beyond the revolving doors of entertainment.

@stunningham: "by the time the consoles will be available your game will already be pushed beyond the revolving doors of entertainment."

If great games come out and people don't get the system right away, they'll still get the games once they get the PS5, why wouldn't they?

And at this point, there's only a couple of titles that aren't on last gen as well, so I see no problem for developers right now.

@thecupidstunts: But you are looking at it as a gamer and consumer. The fact is, that developers have a short window to recoup their investment. Gamers tend to move onto the next greatest game and will revisit the games you are talking about when they hit Greatest Hits status or are well below $20.

With millions of dollars invested in making games now a days the developer needs to get the most sales when the game is at its initial MSRP. And the norm is for a game to sell at least a minimum of several hundred thousand copies at $60 just to get close to breaking even. With a good amount of consoles in the hands of scalpers you get a trickle effect.

As an example, I refuse to buy a PS5 or Series X from a scalper. I finally snagged a Series X. I just bought Immortal Fenyx Rising for $25 on Amazon. I'm pretty sure Ubisoft would have loved to shift copies of that game at $60 if scalpers weren't buying up a lot of the stock especially as it would have been a great launch title for the Series X.

@rodster: I see what you're saying, hadn't really looked at it that way. Good point.

I still think it's less problematic for devs right now though, since almost all games are being released on last-gen consoles as well.

See this is why i'm glad I waited. There was an article recently about drifting on the dualsense controllers, similar to the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con drifting issues.. Sony hasn't acknowledged the problem and PS5 owners who are having problems with their controllers want Sony to replace their controllers.

Woohoo! I was able to snag a PS5 and controller off PS Direct just now. I think the random queue system is the way to do it to combat scalpers and bots. Good luck to everyone trying to pick one up.

Why are you all so desperate to get one so immediately? There's hardly anything worthwhile on it at the moment, and your urgency is just benefitting the scalpers. It's like everyone is in a race just to say "got it!"

@guudgidga: I'm in no particular rush for one. The PS5 games are all garbage.

HOWEVER...

Sony just cut an interview saying they want to get people off PS4 as soon as possible, and Final Fantasy VII "Remake" was one example where you basically can't finish the full experience without a PS5. There's going to be more of that coming.

My PS4 barely gets used compared to my gaming PC, but unfortunately there are still developers who are beholden to releasing only on console and they're going to be targeting the PS5.

So I'd like to just have one, play PS4 games on that, let them get upgraded for free, etc.

@guudgidga: what so wrong with scalping non-essential items? Or is it really the bots you have a problem with, THAT i can understand... But if i want to charge 10k to my account for these systems and then re-sell them for a small profit I should be allowed to do this with non-essential products..

Using Bots to do just that, IS a problem however

@guudgidga: I bought my ps5 at launch just to play Demon's Souls. Besides that played Spider Man Miles Morales (which sucked), can confirm, there isn't anything worthwhile on the ps5 at the moment. Except Demon's Souls.

@praisetheshat: well that's encouraging, that's the only reason I scoured the web for the first few months, trying in vain to get any further than the checkout screen that suddenly went to "out of stock" the moment it appeared. As you said though, other than DS there really isnt anything worth stressing so much for right now. Besides, if most of us are honest, we all have huge back logs of games still waiting. I absolutely refuse to fill the pockets of scalpers, several guys I work with have bought from them, over $1000 CSD?! Face palm!!

@guudgidga: I’ll be honest: I mainly want it at first for my LotR Trilogy in 4k UHD (that I still can’t watch) and for improved versions of my PS4 backlog. I’ll buy PS5 games when there’s at least three “must haves” and price drops start.

The controller makes a huge difference. I hate to say that to people that don't have it, but it does.

This is not unique to consoles. There are supply chain issues due to the pandemic for many products. The PS5 is made in China. I live in China. Many commercial flights carry freight. Guess what a flight from Zhengzhou to Los Angeles was - 4,000 dollars, 4 changes, and a 14 day quarantine. That's even if you can get in the country.

And you saw those clowns in Tampa celebrating in mass without masks? That's why Americans don't have PS5s and the new video cards. They botched the pandemic.

At this point, I will just (have) to wait until the first revision. I am not going out of my way to hunt something with no games down. NVIDIA and AMD made products that are not even available. Luckily, what I have is powerful already, so I'm not missing anything.

I got tired of this and picked up a PS4 Pro on EBay for a decent price. I’ve already got an Xbox One X. I will pick up Series X and PS5 some other time. Good luck!

Both me and my friend were able to get a PS5 on the wal-mart app yesterday:

1. Have all your info up to date (credit card/shipping address, etc)

2. keep refreshing the app until you get the "add to cart" button to appear. Start spamming the add to cart button, you probably wont get it the first round.

3. Don't leave the page on the app, leave it so it still shows "add to cart". Open up the site from a webpage to find out the next time it will drop.

4. Start spamming add to cart button on the app about 1-2 minutes before the drop time, and continue for 2-3 min after.

we both got one yesterday using this method.

This is going to go on for years, it's not even worth it. 95% of the exclusives are coming to PS4/Pro as well. Wait it out people, paying nearly 1k for a bundle is ridiculous. I bought one from BB (after launch) for retail price and couldn't tell any differences in PS4 titles, exclusives 0 difference. Except the very FEW with 60fps. I hate Demon Souls, and i tried out Godfall, it was horrible, yet beautiful looking. I sold mine on Offerup for $700, don't regret it at all. Got a Series x and a Pro. I'm fine. I don't know that I'll ever buy a PS5 honestly. Sony aren't going to shaft 116 million PS4 owners! ;o)
