PS4/PC's Danger Zone Turns Burnout 3 Crash Mode Into A Full Game, Gets Release Date

Ever want to be a crash test dummy?

"Crash for cash"--that's how developer Three Fields Entertainment describes Danger Zone. The upcoming car game comes from the founders of Criterion, which created the Burnout series. Danger Zone bears a big similarity to Burnout 3: Takedown's Crash Mode, encouraging you to crash and cause as much damage as possible, rewarding you with money for your mayhem. Now the game has a release date, along with a trailer.

Danger Zone is powered by Unreal Engine 4, putting you in a 3D car crash testing facility and asking you to do as much damage as possible. Three Fields says the game "combines realistic physics with explosive gameplay."

Now Playing: Danger Zone - Official Trailer

The game will feature 20 different crash testing scenarios, each with their own "unique road layout, traffic, and pickups."

Those pickups will be key, as Danger Zone tasks you with grabbing as many bonuses as possible in an effort to beat out your friends and other players on its connected leaderboard. "Take your revenge on rush hour traffic. This place is a paradise for those who like their driving flame-grilled," said Three Fields.

Danger Zone will launch on May 30. It will be available for US $12.00 / £9.99 / €12.99 on PC and on PlayStation 4.

Racing and Road Rage was why I played Burnout. It's nice that this is at such a low price point but this really isn't what I've been yearning for all these years. I'll still get it and enjoy it, but I'm really disappointed that it's not a racing game. It's more like Flatout.

If this came out 10 years ago, I'd be a lot more excited about it. I think I'll wait for the reviews/ more details, impressions.

The rice point seems about right, though.

I'm still quite skeptical. Dangerous Golf was kind of crap and this sort of came out of nowhere in terms of development time. Moreover, a lot of the UI and vehicle design looks under cooked. Hopefully it's great and I'm wrong but...I don't know just yet.
