The survey also asks when respondents "expect PlayStation to release the next big system software update (system software 4.0) with new features?," with a range of timeframes starting from "before the end of 2015" and going up to "2017 or later" available to pick.
On September 30, Sony released update 3.0 for the PS4. The new firmware introduced a number of features and user-interface enhancements, such as Twitter sharing for videos, tweaks to the interface for streaming on YouTube, and an increase in online storage capacity from 1 GB to 10 GB for PS Plus Members.
The PS4 maintained its position as the best-selling console in the US in September, according to data published by NPD.
"PlayStation 4 was the number one console for NBA 2K16,Madden NFL 16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and FIFA 16. Including the highly successful limited edition console bundle, PS4 also led retail sales for Destiny: The Taken King."

This may change, however, in the the holiday season, when Microsoft will release several exclusive games, including Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5, Sony, meanwhile, will be relying on its new partnership with Activision in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to maintain the lead.
