Nintendo and the Pokemon Company have officially announced two upcoming expansions for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, last year's entry in the mainline series. The Hidden treasure of Area Zero will be released in two parts, with Part 1: The Teal Mask arriving in Fall 2023. Part 2: The Indigo Disk is scheduled for Winter 2023, and both DLC adventures will expand beyond the borders of the Paldea region.

Part 1's story will take place in the land of Kitakami as players embark on a field trip, visiting a land of tranquil natural expanses, local legends, and a colorful festival where new Pokemon can be encountered. Part 2's story unfolds in Blueberry Academy, as players explore the institution as part of an exchange program. Both expansions will have over 230 Pokemon to capture from previous generations, including Ninetails, Vikavolt, and Chimecho in Part 1, and Metagross, Dewgong, and Espurr in Part 2.

There'll also be two new legendary Pokemon to capture in both of these interconnected expansions. Ogerpon is described as a Pokemon with a fearsome mask and can be caught in Pokemon Scarlet, while Terrapagos has a glittering aura and is exclusive to Pokemon Violet. Additionally, three Pokémon named Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti also appear. Regarded as heroes that protected the land of Kitakami in the past, stone statues were made in their likeness to express the people’s gratitude.

As an early preorder bonus, there'll be new uniform sets made available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as the opportunity to claim a special Hisuian Zoroark. This Hisuian Zoroark knows the move Happy Hour, which it cannot learn through normal gameplay, along with Tera Blast, Bitter Malice, and Nasty Plot. It has the Charismatic Mark, and it has Dark as its Tera Type.

In other news from the Pokemon Presents livestream, a stop-motion animated Pokemon series for Netflix has been announced, new Tera Raids for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are coming soon, and Pokemon Sleep will launch later in 2023.
