A recent report suggested that Pedro Pascal had finished filming his scenes for HBO's The Last of Us Season 2. However, this is not the case. A spokesperson for HBO told IGN that reports suggesting that Pascal had wrapped his scenes are "not accurate."

The report gained traction on social media due in part to what people believed it meant in terms of the story in Season 2. Spoilers for The Last of Us follow below.

Now Playing: The Complete LAST OF US Timeline Explained

The Last of Us Season 2 is expected to cover at least some of the events of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us: Part II. In the game, Joel is brutally murdered with a golf club near the beginning of the game, setting Ellie on a warpath for revenge.

When reports emerged that Pascal might have already finished his scenes for Season 2, some took this to mean Pascal could have already filmed this pivotal moment. Filming only began in February, so it would have been a quick turnaround for Pascal if this timeline was accurate.

The TV series won't adapt the events of the game 1:1, but it's expected Joel will die given it is such a momentous moment in moving the story forward. Writer Craig Mazin has said Season 2 could include elements not seen in the game. He also expects Season 2 to lead to fan "furor."

In the game, Joel is killed by Abby, who hunted him down after Joel killed her father at the end of the first game. Laura Bailey played Abby in the game, and the response to her character's actions led people to send in death threats about her infant. Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby on the TV show.
