No Place For Bravery has been announced during a stream by The Guerrilla Collective, and it's an intense action-RPG with a 2D pixel art style and plenty of violence. The game, which is due in early 2021, is coming to both Switch and PC via Steam.

The game is the debut title from Glitch Factory Games, and will be published by Ysbryd Games (Va-11 Hall-A, World of Horror). It's set in a world where humanity has largely collapsed, and has rebuilt a Medievalist society. You play as Thorn, a warrior whose daughter is kidnapped, and you'll be seeking revenge and rescue.

The game is inspired by Norse mythology, and features combo-heavy combat, and Thorn is assisted by his foster son, Phid, on his quest.

You can watch the debut trailer below.

The game will have a narrative focus, and progression will be based on earning upgrades rather than any sort of XP system. While the game was originally envisioned as a roguelike when work on it began in 2016, it changed so that the team could tell a better story--many of the game's developers have experienced toxic home lives and difficult relationships with their parents, and wanted to represent this in their game.

"Through the trials and tribulations of our lives, including the long road of development, we have persevered," developer Matheus Queiroz said in a statement sent to press. "We hope our shared experiences will be heartfelt by the PC and Nintendo Switch communities in 2021."

No Place For Bravery will cost $20 at launch.
