Next EA Access Free Games for Xbox One Revealed

[UPDATE] EA has now confirmed that Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2 are being added to the EA Access free game vault. Additionally, the company announced even more games for the program.

Six PopCap games were added today, including Heavy Weapon, Bejeweled 2, Bejeweled 3, Feeding Frenzy, Feeding Frenzy 2, and Zuma.

EA Sports UFC 2, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and Star Wars Battlefront will be added "later this year," though EA did not announce specific release dates for them.

The orginal story is below.

EA is adding more games to the EA Access free game vault.

The company today announced that Xbox One games Star Wars Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2, two titles released within the past year, are headed to the service later this year. EA made the announcement in a tweet and then removed the message, according to NeoGAF. In another tweet, EA said there was something wrong with the link it posted earlier and is working to publish a new one, though that hasn't happened yet. We'll report back with more details soon.

EA Access is available for $5/month or $30/year. On top of free games, subscribers also get early access to upcoming titles and discounts on all EA digital content. Subscribers can start playing a portion of Battlefield 1 on October 13, which is more than a week before its official release date on October 21.

It's rumored that Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2 will be added to the EA Access free game vault later this year, though no release dates were announced.

A version of EA Access called Origin Access is available on PC with its own vault of free games. However, Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2 were only confirmed for EA Access; EA Sports UFC 2 was not released on PC. No version of EA Access is available for PlayStation 4.

There are already 25 games in the EA Access free game vault, all of which are listed below.

I was pretty surprised to see PvZ 2 get added as soon as it did. But SW: BF is a welcome addition, especially if they also give access to the DLC. I haven't played in a while, Is the Death Star DLC out yet..?

@sephirothswing: BUT, if it is like the other games you get access to all the DLC as well. At least BF4 does that, and gives premium access. If they do that with Battlefront, I might renew. I only have the base game to that.

@Daveof89: For those that don't update to latest version of all those sports games right away, (Or, had never even bought then in the first place.) it actually helps to revive those older version a lil with other subs keeping like a rotating micro community. There are always new ppl subbing or coming back.

Even if it is at times a VERY small fraction of ppl playing those diff versions. At the least, you can still find matches for those games when by now, they would almost definitely be completely empty.

@mulder_000: Fact is, I've been averaging 2-3 decent titles a month, and any I don't like, I sell. Most months don't end up costing me more than $5, and there have been some amazing titles, whereas EA adds 2-3 games a year plus their outdated sports titles... I'd maybe play battlefront just to try it, but everything else is old and/or garbage.

Surprised EA Access is still going. Game list doesnt seem that impressive and the good ones are available for purchase super cheap but I guess the fact the sub is cheap has a lot to do with it.

@Ha2e: Cheaper then PSNow and you don't have to stream any of the games. It's a decent deal. They do need a lot more games though. This is why I've waited. By the end of next year they should have at least 40+ games in their vault. It should be worth it then.

@Ha2e: I only ever bother with EA Access (or Origin Access) to test drive a new game with the 10 hour trial, after that if I like the game I buy it or if I don't then I quit the subscription- simple as that, no game in the vault worth bothering with.

@Aleperez75: half the list is made up of sports games, dude bro shooters or mediocre racing games... the other offerings are really old (dead space) or were originally phone games and should not even be on a console (peggle, plants vs zombies). how someone can defend such a lackluster list of games is quite amusing. unravel is the ONLY game that interests me from the current offerings. i gather you are one of "those" gamers who play one or two games a year... madden and battlefield... in which case this service must be perfect for you. enjoy!

@Xristophoros: The fact that you brought PS+ into the conversation just tells everyone you're a Sony troll. lol!! You have to pay $60 a year for PS+. Twice EA Access price. All PS+ games aren't great either. I'd say about 1/2 PS+ games are worth playing. Also XB1 has their own GWG games as well. They give you 4 games a month on XB1. EA Access isn't for everyone, but a lot of people like having the option.

Nice, I was looking to buy Mirror's Edge Catalyst once price dropped to $20 but now I can just wait until it hits the vault. Some people may not be happy with EA Access but I paid $30 last December and am planning to re-up. This month I started playing Dragon Age: Inquisition and have put in about 20hrs of game time. Combine that with Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, 2 Need for Speed titles, Unravel, and 2 Garden Warfare games is about all the games I'm interested in playing. Passed on Titanfall since I played it on 360 and got bored after about 10 hours. That's still about 8 excellent games excluding Sports titles that would probably cost about $80 for all of them even if they were only $10 on sale (most of them are $20 or more still).

Would be a better value if EA would simply open it's catalog and let users select any three games at a time. That way users get what they want, and EA can limit the bandwidth consumption from downloads of its titles.

See, the vault only exists to make EA money. Titles don't go into the vault until they stop selling well.

@R4gn4r0k: only 40 bucks on instant gaming, buyed BF4 and hardline at very cheap price but got a bit disapointed by the so so controls of various vehicles and the more than tiedous single player campaign, even cod ghost had a better solo mode. but with characters as lawrence of arabia, i may give it a try when it become cheaper.

@newagegamersare: It's only a bad value if all you do is require the "newest, latest, best." I don't play competitive multiplayer so from a single player standpoint I find it to be a fantastic value.
