The new Rogue Squadron Star Wars film from Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has reportedly been delayed. The movie was supposed to start pre-production by the end of 2021, but that won't happen, according to The Hollywood Reporter's sources.

The sources said the delay is related to "scheduling issues" with Jenkins. "The producers and filmmaking team came to the realization that Jenkins' timetable and other commitments wouldn't mesh with the window needed to make the movie in 2022," the report said.

Rogue Squadron is now "off the production" schedule, and its release is being delayed, according to the report. It was planned to be the first new Star Wars movie since 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which wrapped up the new trilogy.

Officially, however, Rogue Squadron remains on Disney's schedule for release on December 22, 2023.

As for Jenkins' other projects, she is working on Wonder Woman 3 and a Cleopatra movie, both of which will feature Gal Gadot. In addition to Jenkins' Rogue Squadron movie, there are new Star Wars films coming from Thor director Taika Waititi and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson also has a trilogy of new Star Wars movies in the works.

While fans may have to wait a while longer for the next Star Wars movie, the Star Wars TV show The Book of Boba Fett, releases in December.
