New Resident Evil 7 Teaser Hints at Returning Character

Who is this mysterious voice?

Capcom has released a new teaser for Resident Evil 7. The 36-second video shows the game's protagonist answering a ringing phone and being given a warning by a mysterious female voice on the other end.

The video was posted on Twitter by the official Resident Evil account along with a message that reads "That voice ... who could it be?" This accompanying text has sparked speculation among fans that a character from the series' history could be making a return.

While the character that springs to mind immediately is Ada Wong, who has repeatedly shown up in previous games to cause trouble, we think the voice actually sounds more like Resident Evil 5's Sheva Alomar. Watch the video below and let us know who you think it could be.

A second teaser has also been released, showing one of the weapons players will be able to use to fend of the many horrors the game has in store.

On September 16, Capcom released an update for the Resident Evil 7's Beginning Hour demo called the "Twilight" demo. It allows players to explore "more of the mysterious, derelict mansion" featured in it.

Resident Evil 7 is set to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24, 2017. A deluxe version of Resident Evil 7 will be available for $89.99 and includes the game and a season pass with three extra story chapters.

GameSpot recently got the opportunity to play the upcoming survival-horror game and found that it continues to break tradition.
