An update for the Resident Evil 7's Beginning Hour demo will has been released on PS4. The "Twilight" demo, as Capcom is calling it, will allow players to explore "more of the mysterious, derelict mansion" featured in the original.
"Now is your chance to investigate on your own if you haven’t had the chance to before, as both newcomers and veterans of Beginning Hour will be able to see what’s changed in the run-down rooms and decrepit corridors," Resident Evil community manager, Morgane Toulemonde, explains on the PlayStation Blog.
Along with the new version of the demo, the publisher has also a trailer for the full game. It shows a little more of the Baker Mansion, where much of the game seems to be set. The Baker family also make an appearance, and they've got some rather gruesome dinner plans. It's worth noting that this content is completely separate from the demo and unique to the main game.
Capcom has also announced the deluxe version of Resident Evil 7 will now cost $89.99 instead of the previously advertised $79.99 price point. Prior to the price hike it contained the game and a season pass, which included access to two story expansions at no extra cost. However, the price has increased to reflect that a third story expansion will now also be part of the season pass.
The first DLC will be made up of four short side stories, while the second adds another episode to the main game. It is unclear what the new DLC will provide as of yet. Resident Evil 7 is set to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24, 2017.
For Europe, the standard edition of Resident Evil 7 is available to pre-order for €64.99/£49.99 and will have a custom theme for the console. A Day-1 Survival Edition, which will be available to pre-order at a special price of €69.99/£52.99 up until release, has the theme and and the Survival Pack: Recovery Set. This includes consumable healing items, an early unlock of the insanely difficult Madhouse mode, and a mysterious Lucky Coin in-game defense item.
The Deluxe Edition in Europe will include all the extra content from the Day-1 Survival Edition on top of the game and the season pass.
In a separate press release, Capcom also reaffirmed Resident Evil 7's PlayStation Pro compatibility: "The full game will be compatible with the PlayStation 4 Pro, allowing the immersive gameplay to be experienced in high-resolution, luxuriant 4K with rich visuals only HDR can deliver."
It added: "Similarly, with HDR support on the Xbox One S."
On September 14, Capcom confirmed Resident Evil 7 won't have microtransactions, as many AAA games do these days. GameSpot recently got the opportunity to play the upcoming survival-horror game and found that it continues to break tradition.
