New Free Games Now Available From My Nintendo
Redeem your Gold points for some full game downloads for 3DS and Wii U.
As it periodically does, Nintendo is offering a new selection of full game downloads on its My Nintendo rewards program. Members can redeem their Gold points for a handful of acclaimed indie games on 3DS and Wii U, effectively giving you the chance to download the games for free.
Four new games are up for grabs for the two consoles. On the 3DS side, My Nintendo members can get the platformer/racing game Runbow Pocket for 110 Gold points; the arcadey beat-'em-up Noitu Love: Devolution for 80 Gold points; and the stylish dungeon crawler Severed for 110 Gold points. Wii U owners, meanwhile, can download the Sonic-like platformer Freedom Planet for 110 Gold points.
All four games will be available on My Nintendo until September 26, giving you plenty of time to save up if you don't have enough Gold points in your account. Full game downloads are still a fairly rare sight on the program; only a small selection of full games have been offered on My Nintendo, all of which have been for Wii U and 3DS. The most recent batch arrived back in March and included Woah Dave, Mighty Switch Force 2, and Fast Racing Neo.
In addition to the above titles, Nintendo recently added a new selection of 3DS and Wii U game discounts to the My Nintendo rewards catalog. For a limited time, members can redeem points for discounts on a variety of recent and classic Mario games for both platforms, including 30% off of Super Mario Maker for Wii U (130 Gold points), 40% off of Mario Kart 7 (90 Gold points), and 40% off of Super Mario World (240 Platinum points). You can see the full list of rewards on the My Nintendo website.
My Nintendo members can earn points by purchasing software on 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. While there are no specific discounts for Switch games, Nintendo recently updated the program earlier this year to give Switch owners the ability to purchase certain games with their My Nintendo points. Members now have the option to use their Gold points toward select Switch games when purchasing them either from the Eshop or Nintendo's website. You can read more about how this process works on My Nintendo.
