NCsoft has today announced the winner of its recent competition to design a superhero for inclusion in its upcoming online role-playing game, City of Heroes. The winning character, a ghostly female hero named Numina, was chosen from more than 500 entries and was conceived by City of Heroes' forum member Belle, who is from Bay Shore, New York.

Numina is a being of pure psychic energy and appears as the ghostly form of a beautiful woman in her 20s. She perpetually floats in the air, is surrounded by small bursts of light, and will use her psychic powers to help train up-and-coming heroes in the game as one of eight central non-player characters. For more information on Numina, check out the official City of Heroes Web site.

City of Heroes is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game in which players get to create their own comic-book-style superhero character and defend the people of Paragon City from criminals and villains. For more information on City of Heroes, which is currently scheduled for release early next year, check out our previous coverage of the game.
