@bonzaibillie_99: Not played Bloodborne yet but I'll judge when I get my chance, however my experience with Witcher 3 might have been better than yours as I have not had to play it on the consoles.

not... its not hack N slash... it plays like Souls... stamina bars, blocking, to use Health he smashes a fairy over his head and the blood pours out... its a great game... nothing like click click click click... no "hurry up and press circle" attacks... Hero of Sparta was garbage...

@IanNottinghamX: If you are using the password, you should know who you are paired with. Random matchmaking is still the same.

@phaedrus73: Have you tried him with the saw blade? I have fought him with all 3 starting weapons and he was easy on my first try with the saw blade. I had a much more difficult time with the other two weapons on new characters and that was after I had completed numerous hours in the game (I was much more skilled than the first time). I recall that the very quick damage allowed my hp recover to go faster than the damage he was dishing out. I just spammed R1 a lot with the weapon in the default mode. Also, make sure you have the first armor upgrade set.

@phaedrus73: I beat the cleric beast my fist game pretty easy but then had a difficult time on a new character I created. I figured out that the cleric beast was easier with a quick weapon and I was able to beat him down faster than he could me, especially with the hp regain from counter damage. Try a different character with the the saw blade and stay in close and spam damage with R1 when you are in close. You still have to back off every so often He is tough with the axe or cane - at least he was for me.

@phaedrus73: Advice for Cleric Beast solo.

Only lock on for Firearms, the linear space for such a hulking beast put's locking on a disadvantage.

Dash/ roll forward 'towards him' passes through most his attacks.

Hit his large arm whenever possible, it stuns him commonly.

Follow this and you can win with ease.

@phaedrus73: Here's some advice. Usually when people are killed by a boss, they have a tendency to make a straight beeline back to the boss. Don't do that. Always be sure to kill, at the very least, 2 or 3 easy enemies that are along your route, build up your blood echoes. The more you die, the more blood echoes you collect. 2 or 3 enemies doesn't seem like much but before you know it, you have enough blood echoes to respawn back to The Hunter's Dream and refill your blood vials or level up. Your first priority when encountering a boss should be to pick up the blood echoes you dropped.

You play it this way the game goes a lot smoother.

@phaedrus73: What level are you trying to take on the Cleric Beast at? Sometimes just going up a few levels does wonders.

@phaedrus73: Nah I am new and have lost a LOT to cleric beast. After beating him yesterday I would say upgrade your weapon once it gives a lot more damage making fight a lot easier.

@phaedrus73: Just in case you didn't know. The roll/dash has invincibility frames. Get the timing down and you'll beat the beast easy. Just don't get greedy when going on the offensive, and try to stay behind it.

@phaedrus73: If you go that route, you are going to miss out on a great experience.
