It's nearly Move-ing day for Sony's stable of platforming mascots. The electronics giant today confirmed that PlayStation Move Heroes--a crossover minigame compilation featuring the stars of Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, and Jak and Daxter--will ship out to retailers on March 22.

As the name implies, Move Heroes is a showcase for Sony's motion-sensing PlayStation Move controller. The game sees characters from the aforementioned franchises plucked from their own worlds by an alien force and thrown together on a patchwork world where they must complete more than 40 missions, with gameplay using the Move controller to guide Frisbees through obstacle courses, bowl with an explosive ball, or engage in some old-fashioned third-person shooting and melee-driven head busting.

Sony also confirmed a pack of retailer-exclusive skins that will be available at the game's launch. Gamers who preorder Move Heroes from GameStop or Amazon will be able to unlock three new character skins featuring Pirate Sly, Freedom League Jak, and Trillium Armor Ratchet.

Move Heroes is being developed by Marin County, California-based Nihilistic Software. Devoted to working on one project at a time, the studio has had a limited output in the last 11 years. The developer began with the PC role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption in 2000 and has since released Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, THQ's Conan, and the downloadable arcade-style shooter Zombie Apocalypse. Additionally, Nihilistic worked on Blizzard's ill-fated Starcraft: Ghost.
