NetherRealm will see if players can fight online without any fatalities to their servers.

Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios have announced a server stress test for Mortal Kombat 1, which will take place before the game's launch in September.

The online stress test will take place on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in North America, Latin America, Brazil, and Europe, with no tests for Nintendo Switch or PC currently planned. The list of playable characters has not yet been announced.

The test will focus on one-on-one online matches, according to a tweet from the official Mortal Kombat Twitter, but a "limited single-player Klassic Towers" mode will also be available. An Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Network subscription will not be required in order to be a part of the test.

A full FAQ has been posted to the Mortal Kombat support website with further details, which includes links to both the signup page and the Warner Bros. Account page, which participants must sign up for in order to be considered. Warner Bros. has also specified that this is a different test from the beta, which was announced during the game's initial reveal and open to those who preorder the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The first-ever gameplay trailer will be shown at Summer Game Fest Live on June 8.
