Marvel Studios And Warner Bros' DC Films Are Skipping San Diego Comic-Con @ Home

Conventions aren't the end-all-be-all for pop culture announcements that they were even just a few years ago.

San Diego Comic-Con @ Home will be missing two giant presences once again this year. Both Disney's Marvel Studios and Warner Bros.' DC Films will be skipping out on the festivities, Deadline reports.

For Marvel Studios, it's all about the D23 Expo and those Disney Investor Days. Especially since the pandemic began, Marvel has shifted many of its announcements to those events, with the December 2020 Investor Day revealing a long list of titles and details for upcoming Marvel Studios projects. DC Films, meanwhile, has shifted much of that news to its DC Fandome event, which will have its second annual event in October of this year. Last year's event featured teasers and panels for things like Zack Snyder's Justice League, Black Adam, and The Batman.

Warner Bros. and other parts of DC will still show up for the event. Deadline notes that Warner Bros. TV will have DC's Legends of Tomorrow at the virtual convention, as well as word that DC Publishing will appear. There's no word yet on whether Sony will be bringing Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, or the four-times-delayed Mobius to the show.

While the standard in-person Comic Con is canceled for the year, San-Diego Comic Con@Home runs from July 23-25. The organization is also holding an in-person event called Comic-Con Special Edition in November. DC Fandome kicks off on October 16, 2021. Disney has not yet announced dates for its Investor Days; Disney Investor Day 2019 was in April 2019, and 2020's was in December--so it could be any time. The D23 Expo, meanwhile, will return next year, from September 9 - 11, 2022.
