DC FanDome Returns In October
No programming announcements have been made yet.
DC Comics has announced in a short announcement video shared on Twitter that DC FanDome will be returning on October 16. While there have not yet been any announcements about what panels or events can be expected from the virtual convention, this at least ends speculation about whether there would be another DC FanDome--or if the company might attempt an in-person equivalent.
The speculation and uncertainty over the event has been well-founded, especially as San Diego Comic-Con, citing the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, was recently canceled for a second year in a row. It will instead opt for an online show that will be held virtually in July--but with a Comic-Con International in-person event moving forward sometime in November. The first DC FanDome was announced last June, and was originally intended to be a single-day event, but quickly expanded, with its panels being split between two dates. Check out the new announcement video below.
Last year, DC FanDome proved to be a vibrant convention featuring information about DC content including the DC Extended Universe film franchise, the Arrowverse TV franchise, comic books, and video games. Warner Bros. used the DC FanDome portal and name for the virtual premiere of Wonder Woman 1984 trailer.
Again, there have not yet been any announcements about programming for this year's FanDome, but it's a safe bet that we will be hearing more soon. Last year was about proving the concept, and it's also a safe bet DC will be trying to outdo itself. In the meantime, check out this list of every upcoming DC movie we know about on the horizon.
