It was first announced last May that Hulu was developing a live-action TV show focused on the Marvel comics character Daimon Helstrom. While a release date hasn't been announced, Hulu came to the TCA winter press tour with a bit of an update about how production on the series is going.

"We're in production on Helstrom. I've seen the first four episodes of that as well [as the animated M.O.D.O.K.]," Craig Erwich, Hulu's senior vice president of originals, revealed. "I'm really excited about it. And it's definitely different corner of the Marvel Universe in terms of its horror."

That's right, Helstrom is a horror TV show set in the Marvel universe. Well, set in one of them. It's still not clear if this or any of Hulu's other Marvel projects are set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or not. The series follows siblings Damon (Tom Austen) and Ana Helstrom (Sydney Lemmon), the children of an alleged serial killer who are attempting to rid the world of demons and other supernatural horrors. Homeland alum Elizabeth Marvel plays Victoria Helstrom, the mother to the siblings that has recently completed a two-decade stint in a mental institution.

"It's a really unique take on a horror show that has a very unique family situation at the center of it," Erwich continued. It remains to be seen exactly how scary and graphic Helstrom will be. Given the subject matter, though, there's plenty of room to delve into a truly dark corner of the Marvel universe.

As for when viewers will get to see it, Erwich wasn't prepared to say just yet. However, he said the streaming service will be announcing premiere dates for this project, as well as M.O.D.O.K., "very soon."
