How To Get Octopath Traveler's Special Ending

Tie the eight stories together.

Octopath Traveler is a collection of eight tales, loosely tied together by the eight different people who decide to travel together. However, Twinfinite may have found a deeper connection that pulls the eight stories together. When examining Octopath Traveler's lore, Zhiqing Wan noticed The Gate of Finis is mentioned throughout all eight stories, and that there just so happens to be a post-game dungeon that may further explain that connection.

The dungeon is known as the Ruins of Hornburg, and is proving a difficult challenge to beat. To reach the dungeon, you'll need to complete all eight tales, finish two specific quests, and interact with certain NPCs.

The two quests you need to complete are Daughter of the Dark God and In Search of Father. The former starts outside Ravus Manor in Bolderfall. Have H'aanit or Olberic Provoke or Challenge a nearby guard into a duel--he'll be talking to a dark-haired woman named Lyblac--and after winning, journey to Saintsbridge. Find the same guard once again pining for Lyblac and have Tressa or Therion Purchase of Steal the poem he's holding. Hand the poem off to Flora at the nearby cathedral and she and the guard will enter a relationship. Lyblac should show up to tell your party that she's close to finding her soulmate.

Find Kit just outside the city you started in to begin the In Search of Father quest. Hand him a Healing Grape and then meet up with him again at Noblecourt. You'll find a theater troupe member to his right. Use Ophilia or Primrose to Guide or Allure them to Kit. Head to Grandport next and use Tressa or Therion to Purchase or Steal Lapis Lazuli from a merchant. Bring the Lapis Lazuli to Kit in Moonstruck Coast to complete the quest.

After completing both quests, head to West S'warki Trail and speak to the impresario. This unlocks the Ruins of Hornburg. We suggest prepping for a difficult fight before fast traveling to it.

We gave Octopath Traveler an 8/10. In our Octopath Traveler review, Peter Brown wrote, "Despite the lackluster stories that pull you through the world, Octopath thrives on its character progression and the temptations of high-level challenges and rewards. The promise of new jobs, exciting boss fights, and powerful gear will inspire you to poke around every corner, and there are no shortage of discoveries to strive for. And all the while, you're treated to one of the most interesting and effective re-imaginings of a retro aesthetic around. Octopath will likely be a divisive game due to its fractured storytelling, but it's one worth playing despite its lesser qualities. Its high points are simply too good to ignore."
